Not a steal, IMO.
Might also be a trap based on how well any repair work was done.

That's actually why I thought it was a good deal. Looks like the work was done by a camaro specific restoration company. It seems to include interior trim as well.

The small parts will kill you, so it depends on how much of usable parts are included. If it is a lot of repro parts, then there are fitment issues ahead! A lot of repro parts look shiny and pretty in the box, but fit like crap.
If the VIN is in place and matches hidden VINs (clear NJ title) and sheet metal/welding work is done properly and well. (check panel gaps!) then it might be a deal. Looks like a full floor, but has a 67 manual shifter plate welded to floor, strange.
Frost Green 69s are mostly un-loved, I see the start of resale red on the car

Lol, resale red. I haven't heard that term in a while. Car would be painted silver, regardless, to match my 4th gen. It won't be a restore build, it's getting a LS1/T56.
I started an email dialogue with the Seller. If he says it's all genuine parts and bolts and trim are all neatly bagged and labeled, I might take a drive out this weekend to take a first look and chat with the owner. Nothing to lose except some gas money and tolls to Long Island.
It's amazing you can spot the year of shifter plate from that grainy picture, too.

Waiting on confirmation from the broker, but planning on going to see this one on Wednesday. Not sure if it's the right car for me, but I'll only know if I go see it.

The broker wants to meet me at Long Valley Pub and Brewery and then escort me to the car. He won't let me correspond with the owner directly. I made it clear to him that I'm not bringing any money and not willing to commit this week, in case this was a scam and this guy has larceny in his heart. If you want to come for the ride, it will probably be around 4:30 tomorrow. I should be finishing up in Augusta around 3:45-4ish.

I think you're right, which is a shame because that doesn't matter to me at all since it won't be kept original.
I am too much of an idiot so if I like the car, I'll be paying someone with much more knowledge on first gens to offer their opinion. I've been doing research, but mostly on suspension set ups and modern upgrades.

Biggest thing is good pictures of the trim tag, VIN plate, and trans partial VIN. A pic of the axle code on the front of the passenger axle tube would help too- if it falls within the right date range it may be original.

I'll text/call you as it gets closer. As it stands I should be able to make it.
LV Brewpub has solid food and is one of the original NJ breweries too

No response from this guy yet. The previous listing, I gave up after the Seller gave me one word answers to all my questions. This guy was supposed to get back to me around noon, and it's now the end of the day with no confirmation of tomorrow's appointment.
Edit: Nevermind, he emailed me instead of calling. Craigslist email went to my spam. Meeting him at 5ish.

Unfortunately, I am stuck on a 69 Camaro. The idea is to retire my 2002 4th gen and revive it's spirit in a first gen by transferring the driveline and other bits into the first gen. The car will be lowered on wide tires, and the 69s have the fenders to fit the wider tires. It's a shame, because I really do love vent windows.

Quik, if the current car you are looking at falls through, maybe you should talk to me about mine. Its way better then that $8,500 POS vert. Mine still needs welding, but it would be a better starting place. clear NJ title in my name from 1982 (yes, It as been garaged/barned as a project all this time, I have never drove it)
69 SS350/4speed, all parts for it, but you can pick and choose what you want included, I will part out the rest It is time for me to re-evaluate my projects

That doesn't look like a no rust clean car. The shot under the dash shows half ass painting up the ebrake pedal and the firewall looks questionable by the gas pedal. The leaf spring looks like it has a spot of heavy scaling. I bet that undercoating spray is hiding more than it is helping. That tpi should be bringing the value down more than it is

Nice looking paint, but that is hard to really see in pictures. Has deluxe houndstooth seat covers but standard door panels, a bit of a mismatch here. drivers remote mirror was added (they cut door panel hole in wrong place ), exterior mirrors look like 2nd gen. You could not order a Z/28 with AC in 69, this car has factory AC, so it is not a real Z/28. So don't worry about checking for numbers, but DON't pay Z/28 prices, this is a clone.
Tilt column (nice!), factory gauges, but various fit and finish issues when looking closely.
Looking more, the title say California car. If this is an LA build (same as mine), the trim tag will not tell you if Z/28 or not. The only way to prove it is with the original engine.
No VIN listed, but this car has the short spoiler and if original to the car, build date will be July 1968 to Dec 1968, which is considered an "early" car. This also means the cowl hood was added. The headrests are also missing! that will be a little bit of trouble to fix.
Door panels look like originals, so this should be a "standard interior" car.

Honestly Kevin I was a bit surprised when this post wasn't here.
I guess they could have retrofit the A/C switch though, right?

Ha! You know me too well! It's like a puzzle for me to look over these types of pics and fun.
So the question is about the A/C switch over.
First off, Chevy did not allow you to order A/C with any solid lifter engine (Z/28,L78,L89), opinion is the higher revving engines would throw the A/C belt often.
When looking at this car's A/C components, there is definitely a mismatch of components.
1. A/C "suitcase" in engine compartment is factory. To add this requires cutting firewall, not a small task. A/C only wiring harnesses looks to be there too.
2. "flapper valve in cowl area (under wipers). does not appear to be there. If upper cowl panel was replaced, it might have been lost. You lose Max A/C setting.
3. A/C compressor has been changed to modern version. Why would you change that unless you wanted to get A/C working?
4. Radiator support has been changed, because I see no seal there or holes for the seal. I do see the undrilled factory dimples on the support.
5. A/C condenser is present in front of radiator and dryer is there by battery. Again, you need these only if A/C is in "working" condition.
6. factory A/C dash pad (with upper vent) and heater controls are in place.
7. A/C kick panels are NOT there. They are the standard kick panels, likely they were replaced. Not having the right kickpanels has some issues with A/C operation (Max/normal).
Misc: looking closely I see the disc brake round valve, so this car came with Factory disc brakes probably. This can be added, but looks grungy enough to be original. Dirty disc brake pedal is there, a good sign.
Rear springs appear to be factory 4-leaf, but 3.31 rear is normally a SS350 rear. an LM1 or SS350 could have come with a 4 leaf from the factory.
Grill surround should be body color, so this was replaced during the paint job. But the good news is the fit is very well done. Likely GM grill and fenders and other front end parts (repros fit like crap)
Front spoiler is missing, You got both on a factory spoiler car, Check for larger diameter trunk springs to be sure.
6K redline tach is for Z/28s or big block, unknown if original, but you would not get this redline on SS350 or LM1, my guess is it was added.
My guess is that this was a decent low miles SS350 or LM1 (Special order) With A/C. http://www.camaros.org/lm1.shtml
And then they added the emblems. cowl hood and stripes and Wha La, a Z/28! and a price increase!

I updated Nicken on this already, but I had a strange telephone conversation with the "broker" and decided to reroute back home considering how tired I was from the hectic work week. I might have been misinterpreting the tone of the conversation after discussing with Nicken, so I'm going to reschedule for the weekend. If for nothing else, at least a frame of reference moving forward.
Guys, thank you for all the insight. Especially you, Kevin. I really appreciate all the time you put into this thread. I did get out of him that it is a LA car, but he insists that the cowl hood is evidence enough that it would be a Z28. But then he backtracked and said he has reason to believe it isn't a Z28 car and that they were researching it to be sure, and either way, the price wouldn't be adjusted.
Kevin, I'm going to message you privately about the vert.

Hmm, very interesting! Sounds like they bought too high, figured out their error too late and are looking for some other "person" to help them get their money back and get this problem out of their driveway
