When enough people complain, things happen and that is a fact of life.
I mentioned LA earlier in the thread for a reason - that being a movement toward eliminating any sort of outlying non-residential, minimal tax generating properties. You can even throw farms on that list because they don't generate hardly any property taxes; so if NJ tracks go extinct, don't expect a new one to pop up somewhere out of a huge open field out in the sticks.
Flemington Speedway - remember going there quite a bit when I was younger before they closed...
Towns can and do use just about any means to close down unwanted businesses - EPA, illegal stuff, criminal activity, lawsuits, imminent domain - name it and they do it. As long as a court sides with them, it goes through.

RP is in Englishtown section of Old bridge township McMansions that complain are Manalapan Right next door different township. RP has done awesome job making sound deflecting walls and abiding to all issues complaints, including curfews. I worked at E town for a few years know most everyone there. They have solid good responsible owners please no rumors regarding E town.
As for Island I do not know anything, but there is just something cool about a throwback track that looks like it doesn't fit. If they do make it I will pay them a visit in the spring to boost their ticket sales by a couple. The racing community needs these tracks.

Apparantly you don't comprehend the meaning of "stay on topic" with a "please" at the end.

You would never see that for a racetrack.
And FWIW, here's another that went away long ago- Flemington Dragway:

True, there is a lot of green space in the area I'm in too. But not all open land is protected...
1962... That is a little before my time - but not much.

No rumors, my man - it was a big deal a few years ago and even landed on the front page of the Star Ledger. But the good news is that the problems have subsided and as long as the town knows they are following the rules, most complaints will end up in deaf ears...

Flemington, East Windsor, Kings Fairgrounds and another one I'm trying to think of. Anytime a place like this closes it is another nail in our hobby. Hope this isn't true.

There are lots of rumors and they are still working on it. Despite all the threads and articles written about it, it isn't dead yet. The track manager is the source of this topic being started so I wouldn't believe anything written referring back to management. Unless it comes directly from the owners, we should all have hope.

Just git the official word Island Dragway clised for good
Hey Guys, I just received official news from a very reliable source that Island Dragway has officially closed for good permanently. Island had their permit revoked for EPA and Tax reasons. Hot Rod magazine also confirmed it saying their website is down, and their voicemail says " It was nice having you race with us". They also say they are giving refunds to vendors. Sad day for all racers.

Apparently there ar several factors causing the closing. The import show that closed hackettstown and independence due to way to many people coming backed up rt 80. State police were furious. That certainly didn't help. Also the family refuses to pay taxes is what a strong source told me

Haven't talked to her directly, she's posted about it a handful of times on facebook.

Your local Airstrip? LOL.
Anyway in all seriousness, I think all the Long Island tracks were shut down, there are a couple in Upstate NY, and a couple out in PA, but E town is one of the closest ones now. Still an hour and a lil from me. Out in PA you have Maple Grove and Beaver Springs. There is also Lebanon Valley up in NY.
Here is a list of more places to run. It also says whether are 1/4 or 1/8 mile tracks.

Great, so now you only pay $20 to run once and wait 3.8 hours while flocks of 23 second fart-can-exhaust cars dump oil and antifreeze all over the track.

R.I.P ISLAND DRAGWAY
whats even making it more of a bummer for me is that i just bought a house 15 min drive away from island and i used to be an hour away. i had planned on stopping by the dragstrip a couple times a month just to watch some cars tearing up the pavement. i guess not now though.

Don't jump to any conclusions yet, I read a few rumblings that things may be happening. Might be BS rumors, but I'll continue to hope.

You got a truck, tow your purple mobile down to where the fast cars race.
