Stock Ls crank will hold 1000hp. Its been proven with turbo setups.
Would I push a stock Ls crank to 1000hp? No, but have ran it 700+ for 2yrs.
The stock crack design gm rods only good to about 500-600hp w/arp bolts.
To give you an example:
My 2000 SS w/
stock block,crank,rods,pistons
Heads/Cam package
made 442rwhp & ran a 250hp shot (NX wetkit) for 2 yrs and track'd it almost every weekend + street racing @ night.
Never blew up, Just sold car cause I was building my house.

Well that's good to hear. I don't wanna risk it though since my motor has 88k and has had a questionable life. Can you ballpark a machining and assembly cost? I have an idea on the price of parts.

also proven 525hp+ @ flywheel (roughly 430-440rwhp) using TFS heads/cam combo which has decent street manners with it tuned properly.
I've also put down 442rwhp with cnc'd heads w/ms3 cam 3800 stall/12bolt and I drove it everywhere without any serious drivability issues.
|
Still missing the point hes looking for 475 rwhp 440 is 35hp shy.... it takes alot to make another 35hp. a 408 will make so much more tq and be so much more street friendly.. It will take a cam in the 250s duration to make that kinda power and i dont think anyone of you guys have drive a cam like that on the street.

I see everyone's point. Everyone understands it is possible and it has been done, but these all out stock short block 475whp set up's are expensive! You really need to know your goals and the budget you have, like would you rather have $1500 in a ported 102/102 n/a or an ls6 intake and a 100shot for a just over half the price of the 102/102?
Pm sent.

Good advertisement of where not to go for some upgrades. So who is the guy in the video? It seems he thinks everyone should know him. Good luck on your future goals.

Will never go there ever.... I flipped on the guy at motor vehicle inspection for just revving it in the station line! That's ridiculous!

Not trying to knock on you because your right that a 402/408 will make more power while being more streetable with the same cam and heads, but you can build a stock ci longblock for less than a 402/408 shortblock. I don't think the OP will really care about 35 hp when it comes down to the savings of staying stock ci. If you have the $$, definitely go 402/408, but I think staying stock ci is more than enough to make a 10 second streetable car.

I don't see anyone hating on your car, only trying to help you get it where you want it.
