i thought was the whole point of "agreed value". You and the INS company agree on the value of the car (say $20K), and if something happens to that car, you get the agreed upon $20K, right?

tru, i never thought of it like that.

I have collector registration on the iroc, had it inspected last november and being that the sticker that was on the car was a year overdue, I have to go back to inspection in one year rather then two. Being that I'm 22 I can't get collector insurance but the car is insured under Geico as a pleasure vehicle.

So let me get this straight....when I went to inspection they took the voucher and kept it. So now when it's time to go back, I need to first go to DMV, pay a renewal for a new voucher card, which allows me to go through collector inspection again, go to inspection and they take/keep that voucher card? Then everytime my inspection is up I repeat this process?

Ted:

That is my understanding of the process and is exactly what I did last year.

Yes, you get the agreed value in that case. Make sure it's agreed value and not stated value (I think that's the term).

Just to state the obvious though, remember that it has to be agreed value. Just because you think it's worth 20k doesn't mean the ins. company will.

ok guys this is the set up i have with collector car registration and my insurance. I just got my collector car voucher Friday morning. First of all i have hagerty insurance they insured my car under my dads name i'm not 21. They asked for all the driver liscens in my house and made sure no one had any points. They asked me to take 3 or 4 pictures of the car and e-mail them to them. They then asked me the agreed value of the car i said 18k with the amount of money i put into it and the things i (knew) i was doing. They said that was fine and gave me a quote at $368 a year. I have had hagerty for 2 or 3 years now can't remember. They never really asked any Q's about anything else on the car.
Now for the collector car reg. i just went there paid the 25 dollar fee and filled out the card and handed it back in. They then gave me what looked like a reg. card and told me to keep it with my regular reg and that it did not replace my regular reg. This week sometime i have to run to the inspection station and get the triangle sticker I just hope they don't have any kind of noise restriction as my car is now pretty loud with long tubes ORY and my magnaflow catback. I'll give it a shot prolly tuesday before the ledgewood cruise night.

Jason

PS any Q's just ask me and i'll try to answer to the best of my knowledge.

noise won't be of issue. All they are doing is checking the miles and that the odometer works.

i dont have a definete answer, but i would guess youd lose your collector reg., and have to go back to regular reg. perhaps pay a fine?

just to make sure.......you can only get collectors reg. when your current inspection is up, right? or can you go earlier and get it done?
