no car is going to get you laid. sorry to jump in here with the truth, yet again. however, some people have a certain attitude when in their car, so that may contribute to the amount of split-tail they get.
this is a very interesting discussion. however, this is an F-BODY MESSAGE BOARD. now, imagine how it'd go over if i went over on an EVO board and started talking about my f-bodies... i would get flamed beyond belief. why should it work one way and not the other?
so... like it's already been said, if you want to talk about your imports, go to an import board.

I think you're comparing apples and oranges. They are 2 totally different cars with 2 totally different purposes in mind. My vote is LS1 all the way but there are an awful lot of 10 Second EVO's up my way. I'm not a big fan of it for alot of the above said reasons, I think it is ugly and yes, they cost a fortune to modify and are pretty high strung right from the factory. However on an autocross course I would pick it to drive over an F-body anyday, it is a very nice machine but I just prefer American pushrod power.

Yes an LS1 is cheaper and can be made faster in a straight line for a little less than an evo can, but the ls1 didnt come out until 97, the 4g63 motor has been out since the early 90s and used to be the ultimate cheap mod motor.
An evo with a boost controller and a few other bolt ons is fully capable of 12s and the mods cost just around the same as they would cost to get an ls1 to run consistent 12s.
Between the two, I would still take an fbody. Considering what an ls1 z28 can be purchased for vs. any year evo, Ill take the ls1.

With only a few minor mods for my suspension- adj shocks/struts, STB, LCAS, and SFCs, i have taken offramps at 60mph with none of those symptoms, and at the track, 60 footed better than most evo's/sti's ask 86formula about that, he'll tell ya. Mickey thompson street radials for me = no advantage for the AWD's on the street/strip. Im not saying im the fastest thing out there by any means, but i know what ive seen/experienced. and by no means am i a NOOB

Oh, I thought the lounge was open topic. I guess I'll keep my Pro-American import car bashing to myself.

That is such a stupid statement.
An fyi.... the fbody is NOT going to get you sex either.
The import scene is big.... it is only going to get better....american manufacturer's have strong competition.... there are many better choices out there than american cars.

better. you can't say as a fact that one is better than another. for every instance of someone else's opinion (car mags, testimonials, owner feedback) that you find in support of imports, i can find one in support of american cars.
i would also have to say that since the japs have more than 50% of the market, that the aftermarket is either going to have to recognize or go out of business. that's just simple logic. so while you say that the import scene is taking off, i say that the aftermarket is playing catch up. the import scene saw great leaps and bounds several years ago. not so much today.

Alright let me explain. My quote was not been meant to be taken literally, unfortunately it has been. The Evo may be big among the import scene, but to the rest of the nation the Camaro gets much more respect. Are these imports going to keep their value in ten years, I seriously doubt it.
