Yep. Big talk coming from Korean car guys. Been in the hi-po business for what, 6 years maybe? This is the same company that has TSBs out because their engines knock if an aftermarket oil filter is used?
GEN-II engines have their flaws, but they are far from total POS's and can make very usable power.

I worked for hyundai for 2 years. I can't count how many short blocks we did due to engine knocks on those 4 cylinders lol.
and yes, aftermarket oil filters did cause a ruckus on some of the motors. What is funny was Hyundai literally had 1 oil filter for every motor till 2000ish. In parts it was just a giant wall of spin on filters... then they released the cartridge ones lol

My lt1 wouldn't start the other day so I cried a little. Turns out I was out of gas. Filled it up and still wouldn't start. Turns out my tears killed the opti. #GenIIproblems

First mistake: trusting a mid 90s GM fuel gauge
2nd mistake, crying onto the opti that probably doesn't have a vent tube
:P lmao

I think they were the last auto manufacturer to stop using OE carbs in the 90's.

I took my needle off and put it on F after I filled my tank, works perfect.
But ya there was a lil sarcasm in that story.

The ignorance on that thread was so bad that I felt embarrassed *for* them. Some of those posts were the equivalent of a 12 year old yelling "I'm a big boy now" and pissing his pants in public.
