Why would I tow my car to Island, it's only 7 miles away?
I'd love to - I don't have a car trailer, though.

the owners of island have not thrown in the towel just yet.
Basically, the track is still there. land isn't sold. nothing torn down etc. Even if it remains closed throughout this year, that does not mean it can never open back up perhaps in a year or two(once issues are resolved)
one comment i heard which i will pass on that(i am para-phrasing since it was a while ago) "many have offered support for island through time and or financial however nothing has actually been put or giving forward yet. Once there is a plan or way to assist, that will be made know"
the njfboa OGs and Rutgers Bbq'ers should know where the valid info comes from.

lol, well I'm sure most people on this site know the person who knows the absolute truth and situation about island. However, I am just relaying some info that was posted on facebook by that person. That person has enough other things going on in their life to be answering a bunch of questions so I have not directly even talked to them about it. I respect the persons privacy so I will allow them to deal with it at their convenience.

I saw that elsewhere, too.
Hopefully somebody closer to the source can fill us in.

I was told by one of the weekly bracket racers who is a friend of the family that Island will be opening back up. He said they haven't figured out when but they are working on it. Only other thing I really remember hearing was they will have to get rid of the bathrooms and go to out houses.

Except they'll be plastic and serviced by a company. Hey, I can live with that - Get me my local track back!

After traveling up and down the Parkway and Turnpike for the last 2 months, it made me realize how much it sucks that Island was closed. I hope everything goes as planned for them, I can't wait to be a regular there again!

I am hoping that the "don't know what you've got until it's gone" sentiment rings for a while.
Massive kudos to those involved in getting it back up.

Would a meet there this year be too hard of a push? Even if its just a t&t meet up and enjoy some racing deal, I'd like to go there.
