I actually really like the Fusion. The interior is really nice, it handles great, and the price is pretty good. What they need to do with it is offer a stick on the V6 AWD Sport model instead of just an auto (you can get a stick with the I4 model).

i think the g6 would be a closer competitor to the avenger than a malibu. closer in price, size, and release date. i can't comment though cause i am infatuated with the styling of the g6 sedan, i don't know why

oh god no I rented one for two weeks once and it really was the worst car I ever drove. Lets see, no gear indicator at night so you have to guess what gear you're in, the door handles on the inside are at the rear of the door, so when the door is open, you have to take off your seatbelt and lean all the way out of the car to close the door, road noise was ridiculous, handling was stiff and painful, interior was cheesy, and the seats were uncomfortable. I rented a cheapo Hyundai 4 cyl. stick hatchback two months later and drove it from Denver to Aspen and back in a blizzard and felt better in that than the G6

Yeah...G6 is not a good choice. If you wanted something outside of Malibu, the Aura is also another Epsilon car that has a nice style, nice interior, and offer a lot of the same stuff Malibu does. Aura does have stiffer handling then Malibu. Aura is also a world better then Avenger. It also offers a crap load more room.
Fusion is a good car, but the Aura and Malibu are both about a notch ahead of it. I cant get over the Gillet Fusion grill. Apparently, other people couldnt either, and now we are getting a more Ford Euro, same with the Taurus.
I would get the Milan over the Fusion.

My college roommate drives a V6 AWD Fusion as his company car. He beats on it pretty hard and it stands up well.
