They're the 'Titanium' finish in the middle, which turned out to be a pretty close match to the stock paint.

Thanks! The bronze wheels look damned sharp but the titanium fits my truck's color better, or at least what I was looking to do with the truck.

At the dealership getting an ECM update/Recall done and a complimentary oil change. Very weird having someone else work on my truck, and I don't like it much.

Well, all things must come to an end I suppose.

No more mini-durty after tomorrow. Had a few issues with the truck (all emissions system stuff) that loaded the hell out of the DPF which made it require 3 service regens to get back to normal, and the DEF injector got clogged with crystalized DEF that thankfully I was able to clean out.

With the EPA crackdown on diesel shops there's no way to 'repair' the emissions stuff any longer.

Still sticking with a Colorado, just a gasser. The new emissions stuff on the diesels makes them not really worth it unless you do a lot of towing/long trips and now that I'm retired I don't do the long trips regularly enough to keep the DPF system happy.

Truck looks odd being mostly returned to stock.

Yeah, big fan of the Colorado. The size works for me.

The Diesel is real nice, on paper. The reality is the emissions systems are a freakin' nightmare.

A few things have been pushing me to trade in the Diesel.

Adding diesel fuel additive every time I filled up started getting old, and it's needed with the modern common rail stuff to keep the injectors/injection pumps alive.

Nobody local stocks the dexos 2 oil, or the oil filters, or the fuel filters. Need to mail order all the maintenance stuff unless I feel like paying 2X the price at the dealer, who may or may not have it in stock. The same dealership who's parts guy told me that Dexos1v2 is the same as Dexos2... Yeah, no it isn't. The wrong oil trashes the DPF, and the list price on that pipe is close to $2k.

Going on 20-30 minute drives to let the DPF finish burning off when it's doing a regen is a PITA. The fact that the truck doesn't give you any indication of a regen starting or the need for one sucks, I had to put in an add-on gauge for that.

Parts availability is scary low, even for the scarcity going on now due to the covid crap. Know of a few folks who had their trucks sitting in dealer lots for months waiting on parts that should be readily available, like diesel emissions system sensors. I don't think the parts thing is going to get much better thanks to the fact that the 2.8 duramax is getting chopped from the engine lineup, probably next year.

This all pointed to 'GTFO' while the trade-in was good. What opened the door is the DPF issue that needed 3 service regens to clear, despite no engine codes or signs of anything wrong until the truck told me I had 100 miles until lawn-ornament status. So I'm GTFO.

Ouch. How many miles did you have on it? Knock on wood, I've run into zero issues so far with my Sierra Dmax.

Just over 37k. It's been great while I was regularly doing a 50+ mile highway commute once in a while, but lately it's been a ton of short-drive kid-to-school sort of stuff, which isn't a healthy environment for the new emissions loaded diesels. Don't get me wrong: It's a good powerplant as long as you do at least *some* highway driving on a regular basis. My current use just doesn't fit the design parameters for these motors any more, even if it took a year of short-drive shenanigans to make an issue pop up. Probably, if we didn't have the lockdown to contend with so there would have been a few longish road trips added to the use, it would never have been a factor.

Your experience is why I recommend against new diesels. Sucks tuning is non-existent, it’s the only way to feasibly own a new diesel especially with short commutes.

Yeah. When I go it the option to tune and 'lighten' the truck was still there, but I didn't want to toss the warranty in the trash, so I held off thinking I'd do it after the warranty was over. Then the EPA went nuts, thanks to the wonderful 'coal rolling' jackasses out there who gave diesels a bad name in the first place.

I hope they find a better way to handle emissions on the diesels or I'm thinking oil-burners are going to be a thing of the past. Know a few guys with heavy duty trucks that opted for the gas motor option despite the added fuel costs just to avoid the overcomplicated diesel emissions crap.

Didn't even have it home for 5 minutes before stuff started happening. Front air dam fell off (whoops), tonneau cover got installed and my currently-dirty-but-I-put-'em-in-anyway husky floor liners to keep all the slush and salt out of the rugs. It was a lot of fun doing this outside in 20 degree weather.

Why didn't I clean the floor liners? Well, because if I dared turn on my outside hose it would spray ice cubes and it's really hard to wash things with those also I really don't need an ice rink right in front of my house. When I mentioned washing them in the bathtub to my wife I got a look that could only be described as 'not good.'

Congrats and I also like the color. Get yourself a steam cleaner to clean those mats.

Thanks! The mats are the husky liners, just a quick hose down usually gets everything off. Not 'carpet', think more rubber.

I hear you. Steam cleaning is great on just about everything. I'm on the kick as I just grabbed a good unit and enjoyed cleaning my engine bay and weathertech mats.

Simple green, a stiff brush, and some elbow grease and my weather techs come out looking great.

I usually top them with some watered down Chemical guys VRP. Gives it back some shine but its not as slippery as full strength VRP.

What do you coat with after you steam clean them?
