OIL leak & Opti

I put a opti on my 94 z28 about 2 weeks ago. While I was there I put new timing chain gaskets in.I must have pinched the crank seal because its pouring oil.Its leaking so bad it fouled my plug wires out.My car dont want to run.It spits and has a miss but run but not good.(Question)Well the opti be ok after I put the new seal in and clean everything up.Or did I tear up another opti?

No way to tell without opening it up and looking.

How did it run when you changed the opti. What brand did you use, was it aligned on the spline correctly? Sure the plug wires are on the right cylinders?

My point was cheaper opti's (ie: autozone and advanced house brands) arent made to spec. The keyway isnt defined too well and you CAN misalign the splines.

Was gonna ask the same thing.

If you got it dot to dot on timing set, and then got a working opti, my bet is on spark plug wires on wrong place on opti.

I think you are trying to say, "It's an LT1 engine, there's only one way for it to go on". Correct? If so, you are incorrect. The mechanically stupid have been installing splined and non-splined Optis wrong since day one.

I think he only did the timing cover gaskets, not an actual set.
