tranny mounts

hey guys... i posted a while ago about like a jolting when i go to accelrate etc. im thinking it could be a tranny mount. is there a way to inspect them to see if thats it? and is it hard to replace? i really think its the tranny mount though because the shifter is like bouncy whenever i hit a bump etc.

your car a v6 or v8? They're easy no matter what but a little more time consuming on the v6s

like I said... auto or manual?

I have an auto, so I'll explain how to tell this way.

Does it clunk when you go from park to drive, or reverse, or anything?

If you nail it from a stop can you hear or feel the trans clunk on the tranny tunnel?
If it's bad enough, this can happen just going over bumps driving or even by your motor torquing. Mine was like that when I snapped the bolt one time.

If you wanna go poly, it's not exactly a direct swap, but I have a crossmember in my garage out a 3.8 / 4l60e car that's already got the bolthole elongated for a poly mount. That takes care of 2/3rds of it for you

does the shifter move excessively when you hit the gas? sounds like a tranny mount to me.

The tranny mount is simple to replace. Total time should be less than 20 minutes. It's only held in by a few bolts. I'd be willing to give you a hand with it one night (I'm right over in Ewing).

Well it's easy to check yourself to see if it's the mount. Just crawl under there and look. If it doesn't seem obvious, just push up on the back of the trans a bit and see if the mount is cracked.
