engine balancing

So my motor is a mix of factory parts, ls2 rods and pistons, lq4 crank in an lq9 block. Does all this need to be re-balanced or should it be good since its all factory stuff?

Has this already been put together and run? Or is this a new build?

If it is a new build, its cheap insurance to have all the parts looked at by the machine shop and re-balanced as needed.

New build. Used parts obviously. Block was hot tanked, checked, honed, and assembled. Guy I bought it off of sold his car then sold the motor fresh from the machine shop.

If the rotating assembly is made up of used parts from different engines I would say you absolutely have to get it checked/modified.

Hum, ok. That's what I was worried about. The guy never mentioned having it balanced when I bought it. I'll have it checked out.

I'd have it balanced.

Definitely needs to be balanced. You didn't mention internal or external either but the mix up needs to be balanced together. A factory rotating assembly staying together is different.

I just assumed all ls were internal. So whatever a stock lq4 crank and ls2 rods require balance wise.

Getting dropped off next time I visit my parents in Jersey since the machine shop I want to use is only a town over from them. After talking to them on the phone it definitely needs to get balanced lol.
