1998 Camaro Z28

Finally back on the road.

No rattles, clunks or shakes. Finally. The new wheels worked out beautifully.

Love the gray centers with the paint - great choice on the new wheels!

It's the car in my signature. Was on jackstands for far too long due to an issue with some wheels I bought from OE wheels, and I had to twist their arm a little to get the situation rectified, hence the new wheels.

Also had a clunk I was tracking down, turned out to be the hardware for the rear control arms. Holes in the arms = .500" Bolts provided with arms = .464" (M12 x 100, actually). That's .036" of slop in the arms, while the bolts fit the body holes well. Using a 1/2" unibit and some ingenuity, I drilled the holes in the body and rear out to .500" and used 1/2" grade 8 bolts. No more slop, and all the noise is gone.

Also replaced the knock sensors and harness with the new style sensors and upgraded harness, as one of my old sensors was shot and setting a code, along with a bunch of false knock when I had a scanner hooked up. Small wonder, as it looked as if it had been used somewhere under the ocean. What genius puts a sensor on the bottom of a hole in an area that can collect water, without sealing the top of the hole?!

TPI Monte - Thanks!

Ricky - I'll see if I can swing by.

It's already 1.2" lowered with Strano springs. The wheel arch looks a little higher due to the angle the picture was taken in.
