Need advice, about to throw in the towel

Finally after 8 long months of work and money spent putting in the new motor, new trans, new rear, and rear suspension I finally got to drive the car I picked up forever ago. She was running great, felt awesome, pulled strong and I thought i was finally going to be able to drive her for awhile. Then on the way to work at 6 this morning a lady in a Chrysler Sebring decided she was going to run a stop sign and ruin everything Ive been working on for the last 8 months. Damage could have been worse but I'm just here looking for suggestions on the best shop I could take it to to get fixed. Thankfully this wont be coming out of my pocket but still makes for a pretty ****** start to my day.

Oh no! I was wondering how your car was coming along. Where are you located? Pics of the damage? I'm afraid it might total out depending where its hit and how much damage is done.

Real sorry to hear about the accident but be glad you are OK. I'm sure many folks will chime in with a good shop to take her to.

That quarter panel damage is what will really effect the overall outcome. Hopefully the adjuster is kind. I would recommend searching local listings and ebay for comparable cars and their pricing. Most adjusters will undervalue such an old car, its cheaper to cut you a check than start repairing and have it snowball/lack of parts/etc.

Been awhile but i appreciate the response, in a battle to get ahold of her insurance company at the moment. No email, only one phone number where i am instantly put on hold for a half hour each time and never talk to an actual human being. Starting to get a little concerned about their existence.

you pay your insurance company for this very reason. contact your company, and they will handle everything... they will be more than happy to go after her company and you will get your car fixed.

Yup, I've always filed through my own and then they go after the other person's company.

Yeah, already been in contact with them, they cant get in touch with them either. Explained the situation, gave them the info they needed and they told me theyd take care of it. Two days later got a call from them saying they cant get anyone on the phone either, then was told I should keep calling and if i get them on the phone to call back and let them know. Legal action is going to be my next step, just want it fixed and not to keep getting jerked around.

I replied to your PM.
Got you a few more numbers and some other contact info that hopefully helps you out, along with who owns/runs that insurance company, as well as their personal address in florida.

Been a long time since an update on this, finally after 3 months of phone calls and dealing with bs i got in touch with the adjuster handling this claim. Sent her the police report and gave her all of the information and was able to take it for an estimate 10 min after hetting off the phone with her. Prelim. estimate came to just under 4k but will probably go up. Not looking good for me on that end. Was told however the value of the car is anywhere from 3700 to 7900. Looks like another round of fighting with the insurance company is in my future so they will fix and not total the car. Hooray.

If they can give you over 5K for the car and they total it I'd take it, buy it back, part it out, and buy an LS car! I have no idea what is done to your car though.

Been building this car since last april, first time ive done any build whatsoever and while it isnt something extravagant i havent been able to enjoy it yet. Im gonna fight as much as i can to have them pay to fix it, i feel i have a little bit of leverage seeing as she recoeved a careless driving and then tried to submit a claim to her insurance telling them it was my fault. Then after they asked her for the police report they have not been able to get in touch with her any more.

What a ****ed up situation. Best bet is to find similar cars in the tri-state area for sale that are priced where you want your value to be and use that as leverage along with the car being a collector/enthusiast car which drives the value up. You can certainly let them total it, take the check, and buy the car back at a decent price. You do what you want with it then. Most part them out.
