Steering rack

Driver door was replaced on my 98. Steering rack is leaking and there are 2 options, one for FE4 and another. I imagine they will interchange but I am not sure. Most of the suspension is changed so I can't figure out which it was stock. Do I want one rack over another, will they both fit fine? Seems like some sites offer the same part number for FE4, FE7 or FE2 and some offer different ones. I'm confuddled.

Or, is it worth putting a seal kit in it? I've never done a rack so I don't know if replacing the seals is a worthy endeavor. Sometimes digging the seals out is more work and almost impossible hut like I said I haven't dome one of these racks yet.

Ok so my research has discovered replacing the seal is an iffy job. Sometimes it works but most times it don't. So, I think my question will be which rack do I order?

If you send me your VIN number before 4:00 I can decode it for you (I leave at 4 and I'm off till Tuesday).

GM only had 2 racks for a 98 Camaro. One for the V6 and another for the LS1. The LS1 rack is listed as a replacement for all of the above VIN codes (FE2 FE4 and FE7)

As an update for the forum, I found you have the best luck getting a quick ratio looking for a 2000 Z28 rack.

The Cardone part number is 22-185. The one i got was 2 1/4 turns lock to lock.
