OLD tint removal.
Okay, this RamCharger has tint that is probably about 15+ years old on it, and the tint itself comes off easy as hell since most of it already fell off, but the "glue" is gone, its not even sticky anymore. Whats the best way to get it off, it still looks slightly tinted, and I want to get this stuff all off since Ive removed a bit with the razor blade. Thanks.
Jon

There are two layers to tint usually, did they come apart? If not then there's a how too on google.
First you put a tarp or trash bag down so you dont get the floor covered when you spray. You need to soak the tint in ammonia on a sunny day and it will make the glue release. Then you just peel both layers off at once..
If not then theres a lot of scraping I think.
Edit .. heres the link i spoken of.

Soak it down with glass cleaner and use a "NEW" single edge razor blade. You can pick one up with a handle extension at Home Depot to give you more leverage and reduce the risk of getting cut. Scrap on an angle to avoid marking the glass.

The actual tint itself is off, but it seems like the glue is just dried up and non existant, but its still slightly tinted. I need to get it all off since I have one small spot where I knicked it with the razor blade. Ill check out the link though, thanks.

just remember, if you have rear defogger, and you scrape the tint off it, you will no longer have rear defogger

Hey Big Jon,
A little careful heat with a heat gun can help alot, too.

Ill have to try the heat and see what happens, Looks like rain tomorrow so that puts a little damper on working on the outside stuff.

Acetone works pretty good on sticky stuff. It took me forever to scrape and use thinner to get the glue off the sliding window in my old 454SS pickup. What a pita.

Just spray on some regular windex and wait a few minutes then take a razor and a quick wipe should peel the adhesive. Finish with some newspaper.
I used to do this for EVERY car that came in for inspection. My boss told me heat gun and peel the tint, took forever and was such a pain. I figured the windex way on my own. A little messy but only took about 2 minutes total for each window
The others that posted about the ammonia are correct too, although ammonia is a little strong if you use it straight. Windex can be bought generic cheap and isnt too harsh for vapors

Agree with above post, rip old tint off then take Windex as a a lubricant so you don't scratch the glass and then take a razer and just scrape. It won't take long and it will turn out looking like it was never there.

I tried straight windex...it did NOT work, the top layers are already off, I am down to the second layer. I think I may try what Jake linked me to.

Did you try acetone yet? I know that takes off tree sap pretty easy and it's cheap and easy to find at your local hardware store.
