C4 conversion brackets

who sells them? Also heard you have to get custom brake lines, is that true or is there an alternative?

have you thought about c5's? you need a 17 inch wheels but the lines are the same. i have the brackets but don't think i will be using them.

I am uncertain of the c4's though

ed miller or ebmiller on www.thirdgen.org would know for sure, he built my set of c4 hd front brakes, i went with earls ss lines as well because they were only $100. i'd try asking him

yeah they are for a 3rd gen. I already have C5's for my V6, but this is for another project.

Is there a specific year, or years and models we have to use. Im looking on my computer at work and see that our part numbers change through the years with the vettes. I think like 88 and up are dual piston I believe. I looked up the 96 Grand Sport, that and a couple others have 13" rotors, so they wouldn't fit for our application.

You should see regular C4's(dual piston and 12'' rotors(I think)) and also the C4 HD's which are the 13'' rotors(dual piston obviously).

I could be wrong, it's been a while since I've looked at that stuff.

I'm guessing you have to use 88+ 1LE rotors with the brake conversino, and then there's just a bracket that te abutment sits on, and a different brake hose, and it's go time?

EDIT; I just looked on my computer for application of high performance calipers (1LE) and they only fit 88-92 camaro/firebird, could I use my existing spindle, put these calipers and rotors on it, or do I still need to use the bracket for these calipers and rotors?

Ed's website is flynbye He is a good guy but good luck getting anything from him quickly and do not expect a lot of communication. He may be a little better now but I know his job and family keep him busy along with all the brake kits he sells.
I have the 12" Wilwood FSL 4 piston setup he sells with 2 piece front rotors. I went and bought the Kore3 aluminum hubs for my setup though. It is awesome BTW and fits under a 16" GTA wheel (so I have been told, havent tried yet though)

If you want to go the C5 route instead let me know. I still have the writeup somewhere that I did for GM High Tech Performance with all the bracket dimensions and so forth and so on. Doing the C4's should be the same basic steps...I just don't know if the C4 rotor has the hub or if it's seperate.

Well heres the deal, from what I gathered, here's what I see, please correct me if im wrong, if certain things wont fit:

- Buy 88-96 12" calipers ( non ZR-1 or Grans Sport Calipers)
- Buy 1LE Rotor's since they are on a spindle, and Corvette's are free floating
- Buy bracket to relocate caliper
- Buy special lines for the relocation
- ?
- Profit

Now is there anythign I need to knwo about 1LE Rotor's, will they fit just like stock rotor's, its just that they are 1.3 inches bigger diameter, there will be no need for any shims?

Not sure i understand your second point. Are you saying the 1LE's have a hub like a normal thirdgen rotor and the Vette rotor just slips over a fixed hub? If so can you just machine your stock rotor down to allowe the Vette rotor to fit over it? That's how the C5 conversion is accomplished.

Also you may need to cut the original mounting tabs off of your spindle for the caliper.

I know cuttign the original tabs is a must, just like the C5 conversion for 4th gens ( more so on my old spindles then the LS1 I have now.

What I mean by the rotors is that Camaro's doesn't have a hub assembly seperate and you just slip on the rotor ( free floating) The Camaro's you haveto put in the bearings an seals, it's a rotor and hub assembly in one. The Vette's ha free floatin rotor like what's on 4th gens, but Camaro's have the Spindle type where they were both a hub and rotor assembly.
