Fuel Tank Modification
Fuel neck on LT1 cars is a metal disaster than ruins good times. So, my thought is, cut it, and then use marine grade fuel line to splice it back together. Double up proper SS band clamps on each joint and be all set.
I know the fuel line is robust enough for it, and I know that LS1 cars are similar to this. Part of me is saying this is super hack but, the other half is thinking its perfectly valid.
Thoughts?
For ref this is what I mean to use

Marine part for car with boat anchor of an engine. Makes sense to me.
Why do you need to cut it again??

Is the tank neck hard to swap? It was still in my car when I got it, just the tank was missing. There’s a lot of part outs on Craigslist right now, maybe grab a LS tank and neck?

If I cut, I can just get tank up, attach and then attach neck. The filler neck makes the removal and install painful.

Race cars just use a hose as a fuel neck, runs from the fuel door to the top of the fuel cell.
I see no issue doing the same thing.

For what it's worth, it was done this way from the factory in some old school cars. First and second gen Novas use a rubber coupling between the filler neck and tank.

Its simple when the tank is metal.
They switched to plastic and flexible neck on LS1 cars.
