For those with the manta decal on the SS hood..

How much of a PITA is it to install and look right? I did a quick search but the newest thread pertaining to manta decals was pauls thread from last october.

I'm thinking about putting a black one on my car..is it something simple enough that I can do or is it better to have installed by a professional?

yea, it wasnt easy, i did the manta and previously the "berger" style stripes. The manta was way harder, BUT if you take your time, got a steady hand, and the proper tools it can come out good. I have 2 small blemishes on my manta stripe, but they werent enough to make me give up and rip it off. They were caused by heating it too much in one area.
Some manta kits even come with 2 hood sections at no extra charge because the sellers know how difficult they can be. Theres also a second version of the manta which is just really the outline, doesnt look bad and MUCH easier to apply. Something to consider.
But if you do attempt it, you'll need a good small squeegee, razor blades, spray bottle w/soapy water, heat gun, masking take, a cool/shady place to work and a lot of patience.

I'm really thinking about doing something to the hood. My car is just white. I kinda want to break it up a little bit. Give it a little something
