my car at dynotech---

i took my car to dynotech last night for my tranny rebuild. I'm getting a 9.5" 2600 stall pro-torque TC. Transgo shift kit. Heavy duty bands and an extra wide 3-4 band and also billet servos. Possibly also getting a tranny cooler. The car should be done in 1-2 weeks. Hey Bob my car is there if you want to go check it out.

go bigger on the stall!!!!! hehe
2600 is nothing, prolly won't even show much, if any improvement with that. go at least 3200, 3600 woudl be great, 4000 would be what the car wants.

congrats either way.

they said 1600 is stock. they said since it's not a strictly track car and more of a "sunday driver" that the 2600 would be perfect. I was thinking more of a 3000 myself.

do you want it for performance or jsut to say you have it? cause a 2600 stall won't really be very noticeable at all. it also isn't somethign that will make any noticable impact on teh performance of the car.

when dealing with a motor that makes peak tq at 4000-4500 rpms in stock form you dont want a converter that small.

the guys at the shop are just covering their asses. say they recommend a high stall converter and then you come back complaining that your mileage sucks, they have to deal with it. besides, anything is better than stock and dynoteck is a VERY reputable shop. turbo buick guys swear by them.

yea i've heard nothing but great things about them and Eric over there seems to be a really great guy, so I have no problem taking what he says. He says the 2800 will be good so thats what i'm gonna go with.

Well, regardless of the general thought that you should have gone bigger, a 2800 is still better than stock, and it will help you out.

higher stall= higher heat= greater chance of damage= tranny guy don't want to hear you complain because YOU burned your tranny up.

That being said, shoulda went with at least a 3200!!!
