Are you into Bourbon, Rye, Scotch - step inside...
Out of curiosity, wondering if anyone is into the "better" hard stuff - Bourbon, Rye, Scotch - even anejo rum & tequila.
I'm always on the lookout for good rye or bourbon.

The cask is definitely night and day over regular Jameson. Im sure theirs others, but I've been really into the Bullet Whiskey & Rye. I have their 10yr waiting to be opened for a special occasion.

Although it's blended, I had Mccray recently and it was absolutely fantastic. +2 on the Bulleit 10 year. The regular Bulleit has been my go to for mixed drinks since Christmas.

I'm personally not a fan of Jameson, although an irish coffee is one of my favorites.
I just picked up a bottle of 4 roses yellow label ($20) and have to say it is one hell of a bargain. Also have bottles of Knob Creek, Bulliet (the 7 year one), and my personal favorite so far - Eagle Rare 10 year.
I do really like good rye - the redemption I have is something everyone seems to like.
Unless it is something rediculously good, I won't spend more than $40 a bottle.

I'm a scotch drinker, but wouldn't call myself connoisseur. I can't, however, stomach bourbon, rye, or even american whiskey.
If you are looking for something to get you a taste for scotch, I would try the Johnnie Walker series. Try drinking it chilled, but not with ice or watered down. If Black is too harsh for you, spend a few extra bucks on Double Black. It's smoother and easier to drink. My favorite higher end scotch was Highland Park 18 year. Smokey but still smooth. Glenfiddich 18 year is another good one, but bear in mind, these bottles are $100+.
