Monthly Meets in '06
hey gang,
i wanted to get an idea of what kinds of meets you wanted to do next year. i would like to see the number of meets and attendance from with in the club and geusts step up a bit if possible.
i know that a trip to skylands park and to chatterbox have been mentioned in north jersey, central has water front ballpark/great adventure/mercer count park(excellant bbq spot) and the usual places like firkin tavern we can go, south jersey has some shore hot spots/atco and more i am sure.
also i was wondering if you guys think that having a person "in charge" of getting the gatherings together would help? it would have to be with the help of members from the local region hosting, but it would make a more consistant presentation to the places we wish to meet and shoudl create a better time table to have meets planned in advance.
the goal of this is to see if we can come up with a program so that our monthly meets are planned 2 months in advance instead of the 2 or 3 weeks or not at all that they have been lately.

I agree with that for next summer along with some beach activity.
As far as the winter thought, it would obviously involve indoor type activities at resonable distances from both ends of the state.
Just another reminder if you made a general "guide-line" for club gatherings, everyone has to keep in mind that their are alot of members under 21yrs old.

central, eastern side, we're always getting together on route 37. it costs nothing, and we usually just sit bench racing and watching the females and ricers going by. outside of that, seaside is a 5 minute drive up the road. in addition to beach, they've got other things going on like the water works, an outdoor water park, as well as your normal beachtown resort fare. no need to hang out at a bar to have fun, but there are plenty of them too. we might be able to work out something with one of the privately owned parking lots for a guaranteed number of cars and a set price, but that would have to be negotiated - and given the area, i would rather be able to count on someone looking after the cars than just parking them on the street at a meter.
on the other side of the state, i spoke with a representative from Dave&Buster's and got a short price list with a few ideas for a themed party. we'd get a dining room to ourselves and a certain number of tokens that each member could augment at his/her discretion. drinks are your own responsibility, so underage members can hang out, too. i am sure the prices have gone up slightly, but it looked to be about $40 per person. they have their own parking facility.
i like the firken tavern. just because it is a bar doesn't mean you have to drink, and i don't think they have a problem with our underage members as long as they abstain.
a bbq is an awesome idea. i have a decent backyard, a good sized bbq, privacy fencing, i live on a corner lot so there is plenty of room in the yard plus a good amount of street parking. those few leary of parking on the street might be accomodated as well because of the depth of my driveway and the fact that we also park in front of the house. i don't mind underage members at any private function nor do i mind if they drink as long as it is in moderation. there is no need to get tanked up, wrap your car around a telephone pole and then the homeowner finds himself in court in a wrongful death suit. private functions tend to be less stressful. members could be tapped to bring ancillary items and a "pass-the-hat" could be performed to collect for beverages.
an event coordinator is an excellent idea. they could start in early spring and plan out the whole season, including rain dates. that would help in scheduling other member's time as well, as there is usually always something happening in summertime.

yeah the idea of an event coordinator sounds good. from what ive seen its like: yeah what do you wanna do, i dunno how bout here, how about here, no good, how bout here. and then its 4 days before the meet when things are finally ironed out and by then people have other obligations. i didnt even get to attend one club wide meet this summer because of this. if we could get concrete dates, places, and times well in advance then people could make sure their schedule is clear. i also think that the places need to be very accessable and easy to find. im sure there are plenty of people that, like me, have no idea where some of the places most talked about actually are and its assumed that we do. hoorah.

thanks for the feedback guys.
we already have a few things in teh works for next year. actually i have to make a few more phone calls and february will be taken care of(an idea so stupid it is brilliant )
there are the obvious plans for august, east coast nats, and there may be another big time adventure for the club next year as well.
i am gonna get in touch with some of the chain restaurants and see if maybe we can work out a deal with one of them, or one of the parent companies since many of them are actually the same place just with different names.

ive been thinking of somthign that i might as well post since you made a thread about it.....
a meet in the spring or summer, on the roof of one of the casino parking garages in ac.... i rode up on the top of the marina's the other night and it would make for cool pictures, and not many people park up there even on the busiest day....
they have a hooters and other restaraunts there, as well as all the other casinos having whatever they have.....and then the 21+ can stay and hit the floor if they so choose

I was actually thinking about how great the top of a big parking garage would be for a photo shoot too
Event planners are a good idea. There should maybe even be a few people doing it for each region. Just a handful of people from the north, south and central that get together and toss ideas around.
I also say that at least once over the summer of 06, there should be a HUGE planned meet besides the nats. Obviously it should be near the center of the state so its easy for the north and south to get to (doesnt matter either way for central 8) ). Maybe cruise the stip near the beach or have a big BBQ like Tim and Jim said. just think about how cool it would be to see upwards of 50 F-bodies cruising together .
anyway, I like the ideas so far. And now that the club is in its sophomore year, I think everyone is becoming a lot more comfortable with eachother and willing to drive to hang out. the grease trucks meet is proof of that 8)

yeah, not too many of you id like to see in bikinis so we need some females to fill em out! a parking garage roof meet would be awesome but im sure we would have to ask first since no matter where you go, security personnel are usually dorks with nothing better to do than harass. id probably say that we couldnt be standing up there and wed have to go into the casino, which would be a problem for those underage.

teh parking garage thing is a cool idea. just have to recon the garages first. some of the places in AC have great views from the top, but the drive to the top sucks ass.
beach stuff is hard. when it is the time of year we all wanna be there most places require a deposit, usually per person + room fee. maybe we cna find someplace a little off the strip to meet up, have some lunch/dinner, then cruise in as a group.that sounds reasonable?

wildwood is a perfect location for this. we could stay in rio grande or thereabouts (waaaaay off the strip, but not so far that we couldn't all jump in and cruise - five minutes later be on the strip). cape may is also an idea, as they are LOADED with bed/breakfast joints that i keep saying i will take the wife to for a mini-vacation over a weekend. just trying to kill two birds with one stone.
for me, the amount of females is a secondary consideration - the more females there, the fewer leg-humpers will be drooling over my wife.
i like the idea of a photo shoot on the rooftop of a casino parking lot. talk about a good view... and i am always down for a photo shoot.
i don't know that i could coordinate the whole state, but i could certainly help out with our area (central). i've got lots of time on my hands and i don't pay for long distance with my cell phone.

another place that would be good for a photo shoot would be someplace near a lake or ocean where the cars could be lined up and take the pics as the sun's going down. just a thought.
