What do you guys think ?

I got him down to 14.5 right now, Is this still asking too much for a 98 with 90k?

Stock? A4 or M6? Leather? Ttops? Wheels? Overall condition? Color?

But I would say, yes. Dealer? That's why.

$14.5k for that vette isn't too bad if its all there but I would bust him down to ~$13k. If you trust KBB, they have the value between $13-$13.5k for very good to excellent condition. The glass roofs have a tendency to develop de-laminating/finish issues. Make sure it had the steering column fix done and there are no issues with the suspension (active handling/abs issues). Other than that, the normal items should be gone through thoroughly.

The little cosmetic items, wheels and catback don't mean anything regarding price IMO.

I offered 13 and he said no, and came back with 14.5 for his "bottom dollar".. I know about the de-laminating but What exactly is the steering column fix?

The steering column can lock and it will require a flatbed to a dealer to get it fixed. It happened to my dad's C5 and he had the wheels turned. Made it fun getting it on the flatbed.

14.5k is a decent ballpark price for a '98 in good shape w/a few mods. Got rid of mine for around that last year. Clb or column lock bypass is something that should be done. (essentially a module that you install and reprogram of the ecu.) In '99 thru '03 there was an computer change that set it apart from the first 2 years, that gave greater tuning capabilities. (04 supposedly was a standalone year). Car seems decent though. I have seen c5's for 10-12k, but weathered more than this one appears thru the pics.

As w/anything, great deals can be had on specific forums...ie corvetteforums.com I've seen s/c versions go for a little bit more and the choice of cars are greater (even more so if you are into traveling).

is this the car you need a loan to buy? since this is an older car from a private party does that mean you are getting an unsecured personal loan to pay for it? what is your insurance bill on that bad boy, did you inquire about that yet? you are going to need comp & collision on a car that nice.

he said the previous owner replaces the steering column and it has "rare" mag suspension with adjustable settings. This is the car id be taking the loan out for and maromans vette is beautiful no doubt, i spoke to him about it but I want a manual with the all black interior.

Magnetic ride control was introduced in 2003.

Honestly i think thats a bit high for that vette i wouldn't offer more than 13k for it, take it or leave it. you can find better examples around the same year with possibly even a bit fewer miles for around the same price these days, Corvettes at Carlisle is a good start as well. Maroman99's vette is a great example of what I mean, even if the miles are practically the same. by the way the description reads he doesn't seem to be very car savvy in my opinion, and that would make me a bit skeptical

I'm not *actively* selling it but I'm not immune to piles of cash. Everything is for sale for the right price!
