Computer Question

My computer restarts by itself for no reason what so ever. It gets annoying after a few times especially when I'm in the middle of something. Anyone know what this could be?

sounds like a heat problem.
open her up and open a can of air on its ass

edit: it also could be a memory or cpu problem, but if it just started randomly and your not doing any gaming or anything then i doubt it

Yea, heat is always the first suspect when you get random reboots.

Shut her down, open her up and clean her up good. Then fire it back up with the case still opened to make sure all your fans are running correctly.

well so far so good cleaning it out. The computer didn't do it every day, so idk if it did the trick or not yet. It's been 2 days...

btw it needed cleaning anyway. There was ALOT of dust in there.

see if you can put little filters over the fan openings that suck air into the case. that will help with the dust issue. also, crack the case every six months to make sure it's clean inside. if you don't have access to pressurized air, you can buy a spray can "air in a can" or something like that... it's in the aisle with the rest of the computer's ancillary needs (cables, power strips, etc.) and sometimes all you need is a little blast of air to dislodge the dust resting on boards or on the heat sink and on the fan blades. don't skimp when it comes time to clean. you can buy make-up brushes that will help with the chore, as well. nice and soft and they won't dislodge components, like memory sticks, but they will help getting into the crevices.
