i was keeping this a secret...

but what the hell... lol... a while back i posted for a friend asking about VFN and glasstek lift off body panels... well there obviusly was no "friend"

I am not a weight nazi in any way but figured the SS could shed some pounds while gaining a few in other areas.

First purchase was a pin-on SS style hood from VFN. I still have to mount it up then get it painted pewter. My reasoning behind replacing the stock SS hood was because once the blower is installed to hood will be non-functional and i culd lose weight there, so the 8-10lb pin-on replaces that. The new hood will be held in place by 10 dzus fasteners around the edges.

I was gonna get a pin-on fiberglass hatch, however all came with the z28 style spoiler molded in, no way to mount an ss wing. Since my car is a real SS, i wasnt about to downgrade. haha. I ended up purchasing a speedglass lexan rear window from Percys and took an old hatch i had and went to town gutting it as to make it a lift off. it will still bolt on at the hinges up top and will have two standard style hood pins at the back. I left enough support to hold the wing still. once painted and installed, it wont look too different from stock and the pins will be under the wing so they wont be that noticeable. However the window will be bolted to the hatch all around the perimeter so that will stick out upon closer inspection.

I removed the berger-style panel and reinstalled the stock pewter one.
Also the rear bumper will be getting painted pewter at the same time the hood and hatch go for paint.

The Stock SS 10-spoke painted wheels will be getting sent out to be narrow for skinnies up front.

The 6 point Roll cage is just about fully installed and i'm loving it.

Once i get the y-pipe tucked up better, the rear intrax springs will go back in, brining down to the proper height i like.

Some issues came up with the blower install, hence the reason it got delayed, but should be comign together soon enough once i contact Procharger. Ive also decided to ditch the twin intercoolers and go for a front mount instead from exotic performance parts. The font grille will be cut out and the intercooler will be fully visable. and once thats installed, it'll be getting tuned FINALLY.

Also, the large stereo system has been removed, amps, subs, xbox, cd changer, dvd player, etc, it will only have a basic pioneer headunit and eventually a JL stealthbox with 1 sub and 1 small amp.

After deployment, the car will get, tubular k member, tubular a-arms, a new set of heads, a 90/90 TB/intake setup, and a ford 9" rear.

That should keep me happy for a bit
Here are some pics... hood, hatch, front wheels w/old tires.. hahah...

really droppin some weight there, the skinny 10spokes are a nice touch. You should also loose the seats, sell them to me ofcourse, and throw in one or two lightweight racing seats

And to think, you used to tell me all the weight reduction was crazy and overrated...
