o2 sensor failure after wawa gas?
SOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO I decided to let my brother drive my Z tonight and see if he'd get into the whole F-Body thing. He drove to the local wawa and slapped in 5 gallons of wawa's high quality ultra performance "premium gas" and an astonishing 92 octane. This is the first time i've EVER let wawa gas in the car since i've owned it and after he gets on it on the way home (about 1/2 a mile from the station) the SES light pops on for o2 sensors.
So.. can Wawa gas be the culprit? And do I need new sensors?

Usually, if bad fuel/water in fuel you will have other symptoms than just 02 codes. running rough, stalling, bucking, hard starting etc.. but that is usually with a high content of water in the fuel, I'm not saying that some water or bad fuel couldn't cause a bad 02 cuz it could. But, if thats the only problem you have than pursuing any reimbursement will be a waste of your time. Put some dry gas in it or some octane booster, clear code and see if it comes back.
as for wawa fuel, I wouldn't run it. see below:
A couple local wawas by me have had some issues w/water in the fuel.
43 cases @ the lacey wawa, I know this cuz my buddy filled up there and was stranded 30 min. later. Had to drop tank empty fuel out, flush lines and put fresh gas in.
I'm sure that the wawas in the surrounding 30-40 miles get fuel from the same batch/tankers etc..
There was also a big thing at the Costco in Manahawkin. My friend Dan that works @ Causeway Honda had 27 cars come in with water in fuel. after testing found 12% water content. He was actually on the News about this.
Costco admitted it, and is reimbursing there customers + a $100 gift card.
FYI: the hondas all got:
drain, flush, filters, & 4 NEW INJECTORS...bills were over $2000 each..lol

I avoid wawa like the plague.. but we'll see if the codes stay. I didn't see it running rough or any of that on the way home..

This.
If it's a rear O2 then it may be a cat not getting up to temp or something like that.

IIRC they don't get the same gas. Pretty sure the Lacey ones get Lukoil.
Also, you realize there are 2 Wawa stations in Lacey (1 on Rt 9 next to Caffrey's, 1 on Lacey Rd), plus one on the border with Lanoka Harbor on Rt 9 that can also be considered Lacey as well? Which one are you talking about?

more for me then. I use it all the time and never had any issues in my H/C car. Oh, and in the summer I also work there, but what do I know
Here's a little more relevant response, if you really think the gas caused the o2 sensor to go bad, find a shop that thinks the same and wawa will pay for the repair. You just need a receipt to prove that you got the gas there. So if you paid cash, you're probably SOL.

My brother is actually the one who pumped the gas in my car, he's a gas attendant and that is his place of work we got the gas from. I threw the PO 131 and 151 (sensor 1)

Yea, they had an issue in the beginning of August. It was the distributors fault obviously. Within 5 hrs of the delivery we had someone from headquarters out there testing the tanks(at 2:30am). In that situation, wawa said they would cover all repairs, they have insurance for that type of thing.

Alright! I finally had time to deal with my o2 sensor situation
Being the dummy I am, I was tackling the post-cat o2 sensors instead of my faulty pre-cat ones. I encountered a problem with the driver side post cat where the sensor would not thread into the hole (the threads on the hole were all messed up) so i'm trying to either a, not run this o2 sensor.. or B. find a solution on how to get it to thread in.
I also mutilated the old o2 sensors getting them out since it was a pain in the a$$ to get off so using them is out of the question. In place I have two Bosch 13111 IIRC intended for my front.
Ordered the Delso's for the front now.
My other question is will I affect much not running rear o2 sensors? I've read around that it's basically for emissions and that the front o2s are technically only needed for the A/F.

Rears only monitor catalyst activity. . .You must have a sensor or plug in the hole or you will have an exhaust leak and will have a MIL for the rear 02's but will not effect performance.
