8.8 in Fbody?

Whats peoples thought on running a Ford 8.8 in a fbody?

I have an opportunity to pick one up that is already fit for Fbody but i was wondering if its worth it to go with the 8.8 or hold off and save for a 12 bolt/9/s60

If it is already set up to fit an F-Body, I'd run it. It is more than enough for your power level.

IMO, if you don't want to add any more power, go for it. BUT if you plan on going ham later, save yo monies

I dont plan on going like full ham, but a few more ponies hopefully. Just heads and small things, wont spray the n2o out the gate so it shoudlnt matter.

Its a Ford 8.8 w/ 31 spline axles & Torsen diff, Fbody bolt pattern axles and width, with brakes. 4.11 gear.

What's the price? If price is decent I wouldn't hesitate. 8.8 has 8.8" ring. 9 has 9" ring. Not a big difference.

8.8 is equivalent in strength to a chevy 12 bolt

I would grab it. Just check it out real good. I just spent 3k for a strange 12 bolt. Hawks sells the 8.8 conversion for a fbody about the same price as the strange unit.

I would go with the 8.8 over a 12 bolt. 9in or 60 for an m6 car tho.

Really? I was think the opposite. Since the 8.8 isn’t as strong as the listed I’d think it’d be worse for the m6 car Bc of the “shock” the rear will see with the stick

He is saying he would go with an 8.8 over a 12 bolt but he would buy a 9" or an S60 if it's going in a stick shift car

Stronger the automatic isnt as hard on the rear axle as the stick shift. My 12 bolt sounded like a jet coming thru the rear window.
