Cleaning engine bay getting ready for turbo

Well im gonna give this another try first post i made i got logged out and it erased everything
This is my second camaro my first was a 5.0 third gen that i loved but just had too much work that needed to be done to it to make it what i wanted so i saved up for this.
i started out with just headers and a few other boltons which was enough to blow the stock 4l60 so i upgraded that to a level 2 performabuilt trans and 2500 converter. after that while driving one day the oil pressure got real low and the gague started acting funny. so i parked it and was already dreaming of doing a turbo set up and figured now would be a good time to do it since i was gonna have to pull the motor anyway i figured id just sell that and the headers and anything else i had and put it towards buying turbo parts.
Plus having it off of the road helped me get all the points back off of my license lol
when i took the motor out i found the wire going to the oil pressure sensor was shot and had been messed with before so i figured thats where my problem came from.
now to the good stuff, getting ready to take off the bumper

Taking everything off to paint

this is when i found out why i got the car so cheap the girl that owned it before me must have hit a curb with it because the seam where the 2 pieces connect on the wheel well came apart and so did the piece that holds the coolant reservoir so i had to re weld all of that so i also filled some of the holes that i wasn't going to need anymore.

this was the first time ive ever welded anything i dont think it came out too bad i know i could have made it look better but i just got sick of dealing with grinding it and everything but its strong and that's all that counts.

masking everything off for paint

i thought i had more pictures of when it was done but i must have lost them also painted all of the other little brackets.

going back together

i was going to do the full drivers side wire tuck but changed my mind cause so much is involved so i just cleaned it up as best i could i relocated the grounds so they cant be seen. and im gonna run the harness under the rad support behind the air dam so at least that part will be out of sight.

Putting new ends on the grounds

Cleaning up the wiring on the headlights, they looked sloppy and half of the crimps were barely hanging on and i wanted everything soldered.

before

after

the loop of black wire is the power for the led's. i know people either love or hate them but i think they match the car well and it will have the power to back up the look when im done haha

Edit: I dont know why the pics are not loading maybe someone can help me out with that im sick of messing with it for today haha

Seen that on3 kit. Looks alright but idk how much I would trust that company. If I were you and you are set on getting a kit, Huron Speed just released an a/c kit. I'll be running the non a/c version on my car...

yea im basically looking to just use the hot side to get it running and then upgrade the components as i go/need. im not expecting much out of them the huron speed kit looks nice but i saw in his thread that he has his kits made up in china as well. and thats the only bad thing people have to say about on3. im def not dead set on the on3 kit but im gonna watch for threads on both kits and see how people like them.

edit: i do know on3 has a bad rep for some of the deals they have done like the injector story but i wouldent buy those kind of parts from them anyway im really just concerned with the quality of the hot side. and hopefully the components last me at least a year which shouldn't be a problem.

with the huron kit its just a merge pipe. metal is metal. if the welds crack its simple to fix. the manifolds are factory and cast. i went youre route and warning you. i went with the godspeed hotside. things will go bad.

i know the huron kit would be the better buy depending on time and how business is this year i would try and go for that one but but the young dumb stubborn side of me is saying for 2700 (non group purchase price) plus having to buy the turbo, wasetgate, bov, new belt, and oil lines separate . i could just get the on3 kit for 2000 use the alt relocation and oiling set up from it with the hot and cold side and put the extra 700 toward a good bov and wastegate. then just hope the turbo lasts me till next season when i could upgrade it. im not trying to be a smart a** or anyting but like you said metal is metal. and if i did get there kit i would buy an extra one of there cast passenger manifolds incase i ever have to replace it and there no longer in business. but nothing is set in stone im def gonna think about that more in the next month when im ready to start buying stuff and hopefully some build threads will come out on each of them. right now im just getting the motor together.

You should really re read bonzos sig.

Cheap, and boosted are never in the same sentance, no matter how much the idiots on tech with their 5.3 builds say.

Best of luck with things, get a nice turbo!

This. What ever you expect to spend multiply it by at least 2.5. I just spent 3 grand this week and it barely dented the "need to buy" list that I have. Unless you are a master fabricator, engine builder, and have a parts hookup, boost isn't cheap...

well with that i would still have to buy intercooler and cold side piping i was planning on making my own kit until the huron and on3 kits were released. and unlike a lot of people i do know my limitations and any kit i put together wouldn't be done as well as if i just bought one from them cause im not great with welding. but i know enough about it that i dont really want to spend almost 3g's on a few welded together pipes

i do have a few hook ups i am an engine builder i build boat motors performance, restos, anything people want i can make work ive done a few ls engines in boats so im defiantly not new to building and fabricating just have never messed with cars and turbos too much. i also have a shop full of nuts bolts and all the other little stuff that kill most people.

i know what you guys are talking about when it comes to spending the money right the first time i have seen countless customers end up spending more on there old crap then they would have spent getting a brand new motor, that wont be happening to me. im just trying to build this the best way i can while spending the least amount of money. and one way of doing that for me is not hopping on the band wagon and buying a huron kit and just paying for a name thats popular for the moment. ky made great kits at the time too and everyone swore by them but now half of there customers dont even have the parts or money to finish there cars.

fixing the bugs and making it work is the fun part for me. im doing a custom 4inch downpipe. but already notched the bell housing to fit a vband and stuff.
