Any plumbers here? I got some questions.

I've recently had to do some DIY plumbing repair and it brought up some other issues I'd like to address. The main one being turning single zone baseboard hot water heating into two, maybe 3 zones. I also need to remove some leaded cast iron hub connections too. So I was just wondering if anyone on here is a plumber or well-versed in DIY plumbing. My main questions are in regards to codes, if any apply.

On a side note, never install toekick heaters with rubber hoses, even with hoses sold by the manufacturer. After 15 or so years, they WILL deteriorate and clog and make your heat not work. Then you gotta rip them out a re-plumb it.

My parents had this done in their house.

I would not recommend DIYing it. It is a significant amount of work.

Thats where I may luck out though, I have a single story ranch and the one zone is actually 2 large loops. One for the bedrooms/baths, and the other for living room/dining/kitchen. The main boiler feed out goes about 10' along the ceiling of the unfinished part of the basement then splits to each zone. Both loops have separate return lines with shut off and drains valves already. The only changes I would need to make is to cut the pipes and add the zone valves, and of course a second thermostat. The details would be in checking to see about the furnace, if it would be ok running just one zone and the burn times so it doesn't short cycle. I may need to drop the boiler temp from 180 to 160/170.
