whining at start

the other day i was driving up to school and my 94 z28 (info in sig). She went up to about 240 and i could get her down no matter how i drove (even with the electric fans on, in neutral down hill). i got her cooled down but when i started her back up she was whining, sounds like a water pump but its still turning and the thermostat is opening because all of the hoses were hot. had to get towed home, thank you aaa, but still whining. i haven't really dove into it, but im just lookign to know if anyone has head this happen. i know my way around a car, but if some has had this and could point me in the right direction so i could save some time that would be much appreciated.

get a long screw driver, start the car, place pointy end on waterpump, stick ear on handle, see if said noise is heard.

Do tell how you "see" the water pump running?

And yes, the sig works now.

electric water pump but i personally wouldn't recommend it unless you are looking for every bit of performance or want to run a standard small block chevy timing chain set.

Yea, its a toss up, I would check out pricing on an OEM waterpump, not entirely sure if you can rebuild em... and then compare to a CSR/Mezz EWP.

For his application, a stock replacement is the best route.
