Just wanted to get some opinions on what to do. The passenger side rear of my car looks like it is practically sitting on the tire (driver side isn't much better but it is). Anyway, I have a heavy ass box in there which houses my two twelves, I take it out for the track but really love the sound quality since the install but I can't take the look of the way it sits. I can not honestly tell if its just the fact that my car is 15 years old or the extra weight or the combination. I tried pulling up on the wheel well seeing if the springs where just not creating much pressure and the car didn't go up that much IMO. I have also parked next to other 4th gens and you would swear my car was lowered all around but its not. I would love to get stock height out of the rear of the car but am just concerned I would get brand new springs and it would sit exactly the same and then I was thinking of maybe getting new stock height heavier duty springs (if they have them) to absorb the extra weight of the box. Anyway, I am sure there is a easy solution here that I am just not thinking of.

How heavy is the sub box? I can't imagine that it would be bad enough to make a spring that's in good shape sag that noticeably. I'm thinking that a set of fresh rear springs will most likely cure your problem.

I would have to weigh it to get a real accurate figure but I can lift a 4l60e or 7.5 with no problem and that box is a huge pain in the ass to get out of that trunk and you can see it sink a little when I drop it in. I would say it has to be 100+ but it might be less cause of the akwardness (or it could be more).

Well unfortunetly its the box. I installed new stock height variable rate springs in the car today and it sits pretty much exactly the same. So now I have a decision to make.

Eh, I love my sound system and believe me I was one of those diehard "its a muscle car who cares about the damn stereo you ricer" guys but it just adds to the whole package of driving the car. I may try and find a light box before I decide to ditch the subs and amp. My cousin who was with me when I was installing it even said that thing is friggin heavy as hell and he did auto sound equipment installation for a few years, so I knew it was heavier than the average run of the mill box.

Its a custom fit 4th Gen box. It slides in very snug. You might be able to get a inch at most but thats about it and it does look centered but for some reason the passenger side does sit lower than the driver side. I am not completely sure this is due to the box though, cause I seem to remember it sitting like that with the box removed (even though its higher).

what are they, 12's? get stealth boxes. where is the amp at? move that towards the front more or get a self-powered stealth box so its real easy to remove for track days.

i too have the need for tunes as i drive, but my system is very conservative.

Yeah its a 840 watt Pioneer sound system, 2 12's in the trunk, 4 4way Pioneer speakers and a Pioneer GM 1.5 head unit and a Pioneer CD changer (I haven't installed yet). I will look into other box options, thanks

Edit- Oh and the Pioneer AMP is mounted right behind the rear seats infront of the subs.

The picture in your signature, is that what your car looks like with the box in? If not, you should take a picture of the car with the box in so we can see what it looks like..maybe your eyes are playing tricks on you. But if your box really does weigh around 100 lbs it probably would make your rear sag a little bit, especially based on where the weight is.

It was my driveway. Apparently the car NOW sits fine with the new springs on any other surface not in my driveway. So yes, I jumped to conclusions and am probably somewhat retarded for not moving it before I said it did nothing.

Hey man to each there own. I personally love the tunes. You might be more than happy sporting those paper speakers but my ground shaking system suits me just fine and beastie boys rule.
