Rust on Chrome Lug Nuts

Hello Everyone,

I have some lug nuts that were sitting in a humid garage for 10 years and are starting to get pitting on the chrome. What is the best way to remove and then prevent it from getting worse?

Thank you for any suggestions,
Doug,

That happened to mine after a couple of years of use and weather exposure. I didn't bother trying to clean them up since they're cheap enough to replace

A set of new ones is $30 - if not less, replace!

I'm going to try what Bonzo suggest and if that doesn't work go with what you and Paul said. $30.00 is a tank of gas, I try to save where I can to put into more important things. But in the end that is still not much money. Thanks guys!

Just wanted to update this in case anyone else ever runs into the same issue. Today I got these lug nuts looking pretty close to new by using some polish. I used "blue magic" metal polish cream, and it worked great. I was going to use the evaporust like bonzo mentioned but it was more expensive then the polish and the threads were in decent shape. Just had to be careful not to get any polish on the threads since it leaves a protective coating.
