Earl's Hyperflex Brake Hose questions

Ok, I have these SS brake hoses, but they have these weird bracks around where they mount to the line,, with a spring that stretches the inside part of the bracket. Anyone know if that was supposed to be taken off or what?

I think they may be there to resist kinking or whipping.

Thats them....and wow, what a difference.
Well, I cant claim it all to the hose. When we were bleeding the brakes, it took 3-4 pumpings just to see fluid. The calipers..well, it shot out what seemed to be dust, followed by fluid.
Car stops a LOT better!! Good pedal feel, caliper grabs a lot harder, and now there is much more dust on the front wheels.
Its a little bit of PITA to get the lines and everything to line up and tighten the bracket.
