Broken strut mount

So short story is I rebiult my suspenion.
everything is new.

The shocks I went with are QA1 18 way ajustable
and put in new set of Monroe strut mounts.

So month later I did hit some rough roads(Jerzy...)
and ripped out the center section of the mount.
Strut shaft dropped right into the shock and
I pretty much had no spring control after that.

Luckly these cars have upper and lower control arms
so everything stayed together.

But i never even seen this happen on any car.
And i do this type of work everyday.

So I'm just wanting to see if ANYONE has SEEN or HEARD
of that happening first hand.

I put my ***** together right,
so I'm trying to rule out if it was a defect???
Kinda common with stiff suspenion???
Or a fluke and I just hit a pretty bad bump in the road???

Thanks for the feed back ppl.

When you rebuilt it, did you re-use the strut mount or was that covered under "everything is new". If it is new, take pictures and start collecting info to send for a claim.

I vaguely remember this happening to BurninrubberGT's Grand Prix.

What strut mounts did you use? If I may ask

I've heard of it happening a few times with non-GM mounts, it seems like most of the time people didn't install the upper plate that sits inside of the mount though

I don't fully understand what you are saying but I have seen where the nut rusts out so bad they no longer hold the coil over in place. Sounds like you hit a good bump too
