According to rockauto.com lookup:
96 TA:
ACDELCO Part # 1520418 {#52499051}
COMPRESSOR,A/C(REMAN) w/A/C MAN CONT(C60); H6 W/CLUTCH-R134A-INCLS O-RINGS
2000 TA
ACDELCO Part # 1521220 {#89056323}
COMPRESSOR,A/C(REMAN) V7-INCLS O-RINGS
But GM Parts direct lists this under 2000 Firebird:
Pontiac Firebird
#01136535
1993-2002 6 Cyl Compressor Assy
1993-2002 8 Cyl Compressor Assy
1993-1995 V6, 3.4L Eng
1994-1997 V8
So maybe?

95% sure it wont fit. Not to mention the belts are different. Lt1 has a serpentine setup, while the LS1 has a dedicated AC belt

That might explain what I saw. The GM listings might be very litterally compressor, that might not include clutch, pulley, etc. The reman units might include all that, thus the difference. So the compressor itself might be same, but it won't really help unless you know how to swap that stuff.
