I'm going to make try and make this one (may not be with the Firebird), I've been itching to get something on the track at least once this year.

Depends what the track requires but I don't imagine you will have a problem with street tires. I have to find out if they have a test n tune that day so we can even race.

I'll likely be there, will bring the GTA if its still running good. I need to do the valve seals so I won't run it if that is not done by then, but I'll have it there. I didn't do them because I wasn't sure if the smoke was due to the bottom end problems or the brittle valve seals, I can safely say now its the seals. If I do them before the meet maybe I'll do a run or two. If I don't then I'll just go for the drive. Will definitely do them this winter though. Naturally if I don't have enough mileage on the motor by then I'm not running it no matter what.

Street tires are ok, Hell I've seen Jeep Liberties tackling the track on bigger tires than stock. Just don't go through the waterbox, people get ticked when street tire cars go through the box. I don't see any issues running street tires even on test and tune days.
Speaking of test and tune days, Blackbird this is taken straight from the Island Dragway Schedule for September.

That would make it the 2nd Island meet in a row that the GTA makes it there. Hopefully it runs the track this time...

It just needs to live for a pass or two. Doubt there will be much difficulty getting it running consistently.
