Seatbelt recall help.

Does anyone work at a GM dealer, or know anyone who can help me get my seatbelts taken care of? They do not retract any longer, and no GM dealer around here is helping me, they all give me the runaround.

I'll take a look on the parts computer to see if their still available. I was looking for buckles for my car awhile ago and it seemed like a lot of the parts were discontinued.

Front - 12392909
Rear - 12503624
(84 Camaro)

The fronts didn't have any pricing information available which usually means there going discontinued. The rears are $70 each through my boss. And all of the buckles are discontinued. The parts program only gave 1 number for the fronts and rears, it does not look like they're L/R specific.

There are a few places you can order GM parts through that will give you just above dealer price. I would order from one of them instead of the dealer. The only one I can think of is GMpartsdirect.com but I've seen people on here post about better places to order from.

yes, I am the one with the blue camaro that loves fire.

I am not looking to buy seatbelts, as they are under recall. I am looking for this safety recall to be honored, and was hoping someone or their friends could help make this go a little smoother.

Not sure how they would look up a recall for an older car. The GM Vin inquiry system only works back to the mid 1990's. If you send me the VIN number I could try to look it up but I doubt it would work. If you have the recall number I could probably get more information about it.

the certain time period on this one is lifetime of the vehicle, and seeing as i drive it, it is very much alive. but without seatbelts, i wont be.

ive been to numerous dealers and they fondle the computer and tell me to go away.

also, this is the one im most interested in;

If you need a copy of the recall send me your e-mail address. I would call customer assistance and see if they could talk to the dealership. 1-800-222-1020

Directly from the recall.

DEALER CAMPAIGN RESPONSIBILITY

Dealers are to service all vehicles subject to this campaign at no charge to owners, regardless of mileage, age of vehicle, or ownership, from this time forward.

Whenever a vehicle subject to this campaign is taken into your new or used vehicle inventory, or it is in your dealership for service in the future, you should take the steps necessary to be sure the campaign correction has been made before reselling or releasing the vehicle.

Owners of vehicles recently sold from your new vehicle inventory are to be contacted by the dealer, and arrangements made to make the required modificatlon according to instructions contained in this bulletin.

If the condition in not adequately repaired within a reasonable time, the owners may be entitled to an identical or reasonably equivalent vehicle at no charge or to a refund of the purchase price leas a reasonable allowance for depreciation.

To avold having to provide these burdensome solutions, every effort must be made to promptly schedule an appointment with each owner and to repair their vehicle as soon as possible. As you will see in reading the attached copy of the letter which is being sent to owners, the owners are being instructed to contact the neareat Chevrolet Zone Office if their dealer does not remedy the condition within five days of the mutually agreed upon service date. If the condition is not remedied within a reasonable time, they are instructed on how to contact the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration.

the problem here is dealers refuse step 2. I have brought them the papers and campaign numbers and all. I need someone who knows how to do their job, and is willing to do the right thing.

didnt read this post, But I (Noroxus over there) was the last to post in that thread in september. That thread is not a success thread, its one exactly like this one, a frustration thread. and just like that one, there is no solution here... yet.

My seatbelts have been like this for 3 years now, I will happily travel a fair distance to a competent dealer.
