Rim and tire width questions
So I am in the market for new rims and tires. I am looking at c5 z06s, I am getting them through my work and our spec sheets are saying different specs on the rims. They are either 17x9 or 17x9.5 not both. The dilemma is will they fit.... I want to put 275.40.17 all around. My dad says on they will rub in the front , but many people say you will be fine with minimal rubbing. My dad says to keep the stock tires sizes and stagger them, but if the rim is 9.5in wide a 235.45.17 the tires in the front will be stretched alot.
My question to you folks is...
if the rims are 17x9 what's tires would you get?
if the rims are 17x9.5 what tires would you get?
I will also be lowering the car soon on Eibach springs so figure about 1.5inches. The tires will be Michelin pilot sport all seasons
thanks for your help

275s will be fine for either as long as your offset is appropriate for a fbody.

My zr1s are 17x9.5 on all 4 corners with 275s also on all 4. Used to be lowered on eibach pro springs and never had any problems...

http://oewheelsllc.com/Wheels_3/Whee...c/Z06_wheels_3
we get our rims from the same supplier, but our spec sheet says 17x9 and their website says 17x9.5. likely an error on our end somewhere but just trying to cover the bases

You'll be fine with the 54 mm offset. I had the same setup lowered.

275 is a perfect fit for a 9.5" wheel.
On a 9" wheel, 275 is a bit wide, although GM did send them out the door like that. You can run a 255, 265, or 275 on a 9" wheel.

SLP did too.
I have 275/60/15s on an 8" wheel.

My current aftermarket polished ZR-1s from OE Wheels LLC are 17" x 9.5" all the way around. I think i'm going to swap the rears out to 17" x 11" and go with a 315 rear tire

Nice going GM!
GM has been guilty of putting too narrow of a wheel for a given tire size for years, that is an extreme example of it...
FYI - BMW uses a 225 width tire on an 8" wheel for most of the 3 series, tire is 50mm narrower!
