remote start

well I got a nice kit from circuit city for a really nice price, but does any one know a place that doesn't charge 200-400.00 to install it? Or know some one that has installed them before around hamilton I'm not looking to travel more then 15 mins or so to get it done.
it is going in my 01 dodge dakota and it doesn't need a bypass kit either.

They aren't that difficult, you just need your vehicles wiring schematic and the instructions with the remote starter. I put one in my old 4Runner and proceeded to hook up a wire wrong. After figuring out the problem I got it to work fine. That was nice to have in the winter. Just be careful if you're working on the vehicle, you don't want the remote in your pocket where you could bump it and cause the vehicle to fire up.

Last time I was in Myers II on Prospect in Ewing they were getting $250 to install one of the remote start kits they stock....might wanna give them a ring and see what they would charge if you brought your own kit.

As far as I know, most remote start systems are pretty simple. Look at the instructions and see how bad it is, odds are you and a buddy could do it yourselves in a few hours.

I looked at it and attempted it for about an hour or so before I decided I would try to find some one to help as the most I've ever done with any type of wiring is putting in a new head unit.

I got a case of beer and lunch(50.00 max) for any one that wants to volunteer!!!

depending on the kit it takes 2 1/2 to 3 hours to install Professionaly. Also if its on your fbody you'll need a GM VATS By Pass Module.

My TA is a 6 speed so I can't put it in there or I would,It is going in my 01 dodge dakota and it does not require a bypass kit.
I have yet to get a price for under 300.00 to have it done professionaly.

you can have remote start on a manual just have to get the right kit.... and honestly I would I just get it done professionally. That way you have a warranty and no head aches in the future. Plus most shops will take it out for free when you sell the vehicle and transfer the remote start to the new one.
