Charging Issue

Ok, LT1, stock alternator, and a CSR EWP.

When I am drving at night and or in the rain, the battery dies pretty bad.

The EWP is hooked up with a relay and what not, haven't added any aftermarket radio nonsense.

I drove from exit 105 to 88 and then back, and even after that, when I would idle the voltage would nose dive. IDK about other PCMs, but LT1s do not like low voltage, makes for horrible idleing.

Any ideas?

Maybe a dead alternator? The battery is newish, last summer brand new.

Yea all stock pullies, and I only did a basic test of the alternator, found voltage on battery with engine off, and then with it on. Seems to be a difference of around a volt or two.

But idle is all over, usually around 600-700ish, but thats not a concern cause I drove a long time at 3k rpm and idled for no more than 5 minutes.

I could check the voltage output at differing rpm with a voltmeter correct?

Yes.
What voltage does the battery have with the car off?

I will check it again tonight.

I dunno whether a battery or alternator would be cheaper to replace.... Ugh/

You must have one hell of a good battery. Mine reads between 11.5 and 12.0 with the car off. Is this a 93 or 94 LT1?.

At the battery? Then your battery is undercharged.

Shownomercy, I really think you need to go through that car and make sure every ground is good. Clean, star washers, etc.

I guess that is slightly on the low side but thats the reading I am getting on more than one battery. Volt meter might be slightly off. Generally the car running puts out like 14.5 on my car but I do have alot of extra electrical draws on mine.

Yea, its on the list of things to check this weekend. I just refuse to believe it happened coincidentally at the same time the ABS went out... IDK. Electrical things were never my forte.
