is island done? HELL NO IT ISN'T!!

im not trying to stir the pot, but if island is in need of help i would gladly do my part. there's a lot of **** talking on the bullet. i hope its all hear say. i don't want to drive 2 hours to atco every weekend. hopefully some one can put the rumors to rest. i love running at this track and it would be a real shame to see it close.

eh when it comes to legal issues and tax issues i wouldnt be surprised if theyre kept very tight lipped about it. sucks to see a track get shut down...especially due to personal vendettas and mismanagement (rumors).

If it is true, Etown will race prices and cut you off after one pass.

Man, I hope not. That would royally suck. Hopefully this is just yip-yaps on YB starting stupid rumors.

It would more or less mean the end of drag racing for me, because #^@& E-town. Atco is 2+ hours away.

Moved to the racers lounge, tech forum rules now apply, let's keep it civil and clutter free.

Regardless of people's feelings towards island, their opinions, or what they think they know, any racetrack that closes is a very bad thing for the sport, and the automotive hobby in this area

If they closed due to tax/personal/whatever reasons short of the general population around them wanting the track gone, I assume the property can be bought and reopened as a track?

Some of the local population didn't even know the track was there.

I have heard in the past that due to changes in zoning and whatnot in the town, that if the track changes hands it can no longer be a racetrack

No idea the truth in that though

Thats good for the track's future are perhaps staying a track. If etown were to ever close, they would have that strip out of there so fast.

I heard the same. No question that it is a dark day for NJ racers.

No kidding. Looks like I'm done drag racing for all intents and purposes. I had a hard time making time to get to Island, no way I'm going to drive over an hour to wait 6+ hours for maybe three runs at E-town, and 2+hours one way to Atco? Also, just driving to the track would be out, too. If I break my stock rear I don't even want to daydream what the towing bill would be to get home.

This is just bad all around.

Well, in some form of news, the posting that showed Island being out of business on FB has been deleted. Some form of hope, maybe?
