Paging Al on the Chevy Sonic!
Any idea on expected prices for that thing? Me and the Gf are looking at cruzes right now and just saw the up and coming sonic on the chevy site. It looks really nice in the 4dr and was wondering if its in the 15k and under price range.

My wife just pointed this out to me today. Looks like a revamped Aveo which would lead me to believe it should be fairly priced. The 1.4 Turbo sounds like fun!

Yep we're interested in the 4dr sedan version. And you're right, first thing I thought was revamped Aveo. MSRP is 12,300. Probably will be the 1.8L as the entry level and 1.4LT.

So yes I just found a car and driver vid on it. 1.8L auto is the entry level. 1.4T is the upgrade and the turbo cars ONLY come stick

Front fascia looks like that of the Lancer
I like it, the Aveo was a crap box.

1.4t will have. 6spd auto later but will launch with 6spd manual only.
expect pricing to be in step with cars like the Fit and Fiesta. Also the Sonic will be American made.

I was thinking the exact thing about the lancer front end.
I like it alot. Seems like a good candidate for a first new car.

I might consider that for a commuter. Not wanting a stick for a DD though.

The Sonic should be a fun car to drive. The whole Corvette engineered suspension is what im looking forward to.

GM has really stepped up their game. They're doing exactly what they've needed to do. I'm really impressed with what they've done in the small-car department. When I'm in the market for a new car, I may actually consider a GM. Now that's saying something

Another cool deal about the Sonic is that the headlights are exposed. Ill have to show the video, but there is no lense over the whole headlight, just the barrells that the lights are in. The hood serves as a hood over the top of them, gives it a bit of an eyebrow look. Check it out when it comes to the Philly show, or NYC

This may be the one time I like the look of the hatch more. Definitely gonna be eye candy for the tuner crowd. Being a motor head, are there any power #'s on it?

1.8 and 1.4t make 138 hp but the 1.4t has more torque.

Not to mention I'd imagine the 1.4T will get more mileage when out of the boost.

It gets 40mpgs in the bigger Cruze, so I imagine htat engine can do even better in the newer Chevy Seattle Super Sonic.

That is an interesting topic too. It seems these smaller segment cars dont pull down more numbers. Look at Fiesta and Focus, Fit and Civic, Versa and Sentra.
I still think 40mpg will be attainable, but I have a feeling that the Hyundai Accent will put up the big 50mpg mark without hybrid.
