Unhappy air compressor A/C 89 GTA Problem

I have a 5.7 GTA and my air conditioning is blowing cold air but the compressor is not moving, it burned my belt off (The belt wouldn't move so the engine turning burned it). I want to know what i can do, there are no bad fuses so thats ruled out, and i am at a loss of what to do.

If the compressor is not turning then the AC is not working. You get cold air becaseu it is cold out. The vent & blend doors are working.

Sounds like your comp is siezed. Evac, new comp, new orafice tube, drier tank, convert to R134.

Feather-light suspension, Konis just couldn't hold. I'm so glad I took a look inside your showroom doors.

Hey everybody, it's good to have you on the Baba-too-da-ba-too-ba-ba-buh-doo-ga-ga-bop-a-dop

solution: you don't use A/C in February.

The compressor spins freely when the clutches are not engaged, but when they engage thats when it siezes up? Sounds Like you could use a new compressor if thats what your saying.

I don't know how much they cost new, but I'm sure someone on TGO or such has a working one they will let go for cheap, and you can convert to R134a.

OR .............. go the other way and put this part number ( 10055890 )into www.gmpartsdirect.com

yea, but the problem WAS that the compressor didn't move causing my serpentine belt to stop and burn off. But that was my second solution
