The Corvette wheel...

I just wanted to stir the pot a little in the appearance section with a random post to gauge peoples opinions on a typical F-Body issue. The Corvette wheel... We've all seen them, in every variations, they are cheap and readily available for a nice addition to our cars, but a problem I've always had is "To dish... or not to dish"

You can never go wrong with the timeless original ZR1 wheel...

or the C5 Z06:

But one wheel in particular I've had my eye on is these, 2009 Z06 "Spyder" Wheels:

Only problem is I haven't been able to find them in staggered sizes like 17x9.5/17x11 or 18x9.5/18x10.5.

Thoughts?

Love all those wheels if they are on the right car. You can get the Z06 spyder wheel through 6le and have them staggered 18x8.5 18x9.5 which isn't much, but you can also get 19x10.5's. The spyder wheels might be my next wheels.

As long as they aren;t the 1st run c5 wagon wheels..those are hideous. Classic zr1 wheel is the best on 3/4th gen camaro/birds imo. I was going to go the zo6 wheel in 19/20 diameter on my vette but decided on a different route. Not a fan of the spyders and if warranted, a dish staggered seup is always a better route to go if funds allow.

You 4th gen guys have a lot of wheels to choose from, which is a good thing. As a manufacturer for 3rd gen wheels, I can tell you there aren't a fraction as many choices.

My take:

If you get real OEM ZR1 wheels, they are attractive and are quality. If you get knock off bottom barrel cheap copies, beware that they are usually not DOT tested or approved (unless they are proven to be approved). They also have a lot of brake clearance from the back of the wheel spokes to the front of the calipers, but not that much barrel to caliper clearance. You can't run 14" brakes under them.

I do like the spyder wheels personally, but anything above 18" on NJ roads in an F-body is asking for trouble.

There is also a large variation of weights for wheels, some ZR1 copes weigh 20lbs, others 25lbs...

I like the dish look, but keep in mind the larger the dish, the smaller the brake system you can run without caliper to spoke contact. Might not be an issue with stock brakes, but even some small 4 piston kits can cause a problem with a lot of dished wheels.
