Who knows Champagne?

I know absolutely nothing about it, and am very curious. I just set up a surprise get-away with my girlfriend for the weekend after Valentines day, and this package I stumbled across offered champagne, and I don't know what to choose. I was hoping some of the older folks would be able to guide me in picking something thats right for the occasion.

The choices are:
Moet and Chandon White Star Extra Dry or Veuve Cliquot Ponsardin

Thumbs up

Personally. I'd go for some Brass Monkey, Night Train, or Boone's Farm...

I'd skip that stuff and get a bottle of Nando Fragolino. Just about everyone I've served it to thinks it's a lot better than typical (read: common and affordable) champagnes and sparkling wines.

I would go with the Veuve Cliquot Ponsardin, it's decent champane runs about 70-90 bucks a bottle depending where you get it. Moet is best known avg champane runs about 50 bucks.

Make sure you have choclate covered strawberries too.

The thing is, I payed for it in a 2 night package so I might as well take advantage of it or else I would go out and buy something myself. I'm horrible at choosing things, I can never make up my mind.

If you feel like dropping the cash, Dom Perignon.... They don't make it every year, but for 2006 they were selling the 1998 vintage.

Well...true players go for Christal...cause once you open that bottle, your woman's panties instantly drop...

but if you need to choose between the two, i'd go Moet because it tastes a little better IMO...but my family and I always drink Asti or Verdi when we have parties...

Asti FTW! (except when some idiot puts a bottle of it in your freezer, and it explodes, breaking two other bottles of booze in the process)

Yeah Asti Spumante(sp?) is probably the best common sparkling wine.

Moet would be your better choice of champagne from that list.
