ws6 power steering cooling system

hey everyone

my 99 ws6 has the power steering cooling system coming from the upper radiator hose. apparently it is a common issue among these cars for the power steering fluid to somehow leak into the cooling system. i think my car is starting to do that, ive had to top off the power steering fluid twice in the past two months and the coolant is looking gunked up.

ive browsed ls1tech and people have mounted different coolers to run the power steering cooling lines too. it seems like a bit of a pita. has anyone deleted their power steering cooling system all together? if so have you had any problems? im reading the 00+ ws6's came standard without them. my car is daily driven and not road raced or a track car, im not sure if i even need one.

thanks in advance for any help.

I deleted the whole PS from my car. If you order a 02 Camaro upper rad hose it comes as a solid hose. It's like $15 on rock auto. Not to sure if it's a big deal if it's deleted, I can't imagin that it would be.

I looped a piece of hose connecting the supply/return.

Mine wasnt leaking, but i took it off anyways. I picked up a '98 hose, and just like said, use the existing hose to bypass it. Its long enough so just loop it.

I ordered a derail 24" frame mount cooler, but i seriously doubt ill put it on. Unless autocrossing, really dont need it.

I used a hose without the power steering cooler line...

ran the lines that used to go there to a derale cooler mounted underneath pretty simple to do...

I'm looking to do the derale cooler mounted underneath. I'm reading it will extend the life of your power steering system. but just curious if the guys who deleted the ps cooler completely have ran into any issues with deleting it.

they sold the car without the PS cooling option as well so I assume that it was okay...but if your going to be beating the **** out of it then i would do the cooler...

I think it was like 80 bucks between the delete hose and the cooler and like an hour of time if that

Like Tim said, if you aren't beating the car up on an autox course, you aren't hurting it.
