funny thing is, satriani always wanted to be a part of a big rock band. hence the stint in deep purple. it was a fluke that his solo instrumental albums went the way they did. nowadays it's difficult to find a guitarist that doesn't list him as an influence. kind of like bass players and jaco. i'm glad he finally got what he wanted.
i'm not one that automatically subscribes to a super-group. look at the mess that was whitesnake - and i know that the super-group members had squat-all to do with the writing of that album. then there was that debacle on vh1 with sebastian, the nuge, scott ian, bonham and evan... so, while the names look good together, we'll see if they can keep their egos in check and actually produce some good ol' rock 'n' roll.
