Car Show Classes UPDATED 6-10-05
hey gang,
after collecting some feedback this is what we have come up with.
Classes:
we are keeping it simple for this first year. we will have 4 main classes. simply seperating the cars by generation. trophies will be given out to the top 3 cars in each generation as voted by all who attend the event. the car receiving the most overall votes will be declared best of show, there will also be trophies for 2nd and 3rd place in best of show voting.
Prizes:
the winner of each of the 4 main classes will receive a car care package courtesy of Meguiar's. it will include Meguiar's NXT Generation Spray Wax, NXT Generation Glass Cleaner, NXT Generation Tech Protect, NXT Generation Speed Detailer, and a tin of metal polish. Â* www.Meguiars.com
Special Awards
best engine
best paint
best wheels
best camaro
best firebird
Voting:
all voting will be done by the spectators and participants of the event. ballots will be handed out 1per paid entry at teh gate the day of the show.
hope this sounds good to everyone. if anyone has any more special awards they would like to suggest let me know and we will try to add them to the list.
as of the writing of these rules we don't have any prizes or prize fund yet, we are in teh process of corecting that and we will announce prizes as soon as we have them locked in.

hopefully we can pick up a title sponsor for the class and make it less simple
i am gonan be contacting companies this week that may be able to hook us up with some prizes and stuff for teh car show. we will know in a month or so if we can expand teh program or not.
the 4 class thing worked in the past for me when i did shows. it is interesting how people vote. one year a dead stock and completely perfectly maintained(i sweat you could eat off the valve covers) 86 trans am won and the next year an LS1 + supercharged + nitrous + $8k paint job 2000 ram air T/A won. jsut goes to shwo all you need is a car that shines and you have a chance at winning it all.

An appreciated prize for a winner after a show is a free shammy to get all those damn finger prints off. Car show + hotdogs and fries + familes with kids = dirty cars afterward.

hehe, i guess you are going for teh hood closed approach then. there is still best paint/wheels/interior/camaro/thirdgen/of show. so i don't think you have to worry about just the best engine award

Yeah if I can get mine out of the driveway, I'll enter it as "Most Improved" and make everyone elses car look good.
My TA is like that ugly kid everyone had at school - a face only a mother could love.

we did kick around the idea of a "show and go" class. but with it being teh first year we figured we better make things as simple as possible.
as long as we get good car count in show and racing we can do it next year.

Hey Tim, no trophies? Only car care kits? Call me superficial but I like trophies....not that I'm saying I'll win one, but you never know.

Trophies would have been very nice and I tried very hard to get them. Â* Â*But no one we contacted was able to step up with money. Â*It was very tuff to find companies willing to take a chance on us. Â*I feel many hesitated because it is the first year, while other companies had already committed their 2005 budgets to other events. Â*
It also took allot of time to find 'the right persons" in the company to contact. Â*I had a few companies where E-mail and phone messages got bounced 15-20 times over the course of months before I finally found the right person ( and for the reasons stated above couldn't help us). Â*
So even though they may not have been able to help us this year we have a good data base of contacts for next year.
With a good turnout Sunday we will be able to assure companies their money will be well spent on this event in 2006.
BTW - I've seen your car and it gets my vote!
Â* John
