ATTN: Body shop sponsors, I need a hood...
I think its just SRC and RPM on this site but I figure id post asking here instead of just PMs.
I need a NEW Camaro hood. Places such as Rock Auto sells the hood I need for just over 200, However thats not including shipping, which is another 150 or so. It does not have to be CAPA, but depending on prices we'll see. For piece of mind on my build I'd just prefer a new hood over a used one, plus also easier for prep and paint.
Back when I worked as a mechanic, I used to get all my various body panels from a local supplier, POY auto parts in Garfield NJ. They'd deliver right to our shop and there were never any delivery fees. Their website isnt up currently and I dont know if they are still around, but I am wondering if any of the shops that are sponsors, here have a similar working relationship with a local supplier. And if I could buy a hood that way through them and pick it up at their shop to avoid shipping fees.
The hood I need is a 1982-1992 Camaro standard flat hood, for RS/berlinetta. (NOT z28/Iroc-z)
Thank you for taking your time to read this. -Paul H
edit: found out the local POY dealer now goes by Empire Auto Parts and is still active, delivery is still free, just need an account. On thursday I'll swing by my old shop in NJ and see if my old boss still has an account with them. But if someone here can help me out, please let me know.

i know, but the local dealer that distributed POY, in Garfield is now empire. When they use to come to our shop, trucks just said POY, now they have yellow Empire vehicles apparently.

Paul a flat hood is $260.00, retail on their site is $338.00. This is a flat steel hood (non Z-28). Delivery is 1-2 days depending when we order. If you would like one let me know. In order to extend you our pricing I'd need the parts paid in advance.
If you want it painted give me a call.
John

wow, thank you john, however on Monday i agreed to buy a used hood local from a member here for $50 and he's delivering it to me tonight. He says it only has a small ding so that shouldn't matter, but if it turns out its more work to fix than i wanna put into it, i will contact you. But i really do appreciate your response and your willingness to help me out. -Paul

No problem. If you change your mind let me know. I did see fenders available as well, I beige they were 135.00. They did show a VAULE brand at 80.00 each, but obviously lesser quality.
