September 9, 2007

It has been a while since our last newsletter. The last few months have been very busy in and around the NJFBOA.

Our July Monthly Meet at Duke Island Park was a very good time despite some wet weather. We enjoyed some great BBQ thanks to Bubba428 and had a lot of laughs as we hid beneath umbrellas and hatches to avoid the rain.

The 3rd Annual East Coast F-Body Nationals took place on Sunday, August 12th at Island Dragway in Great Meadows, NJ. The event saw a great selection of cars hitting the show field with a great variety of examples from each generation. Camaroracer1992 took home top honors on the show field, winning the 5ft tall Best of Show Award as well as honors for Best Camaro, Best Third Gen, and Best Paint among others.

The drag racing action was fast paced and very tight. Although participation in the Heads-Up categories was lighter than expected, the bracket racers more than made up for it by supplying some great side by side action. Heads Up Winners included Mike in Pure Street, Tim Kenderdine in Hot Street, Drew Rodgers in Outlaw (who came all the way from Georgia!) and the Bracket Winners were Joe Morena in True Radial, Erik Singley in Race Tire, and Ed Terribile in the Pro Dial category.

Thanks to everyone who participated and came out to enjoy the beautiful weather, great cars, and wonderful people at Island Dragway. We look forward to seeing you all again next year at the 2008 East Coast F-Body Nationals.

Planning for the 2008 East Coast F-Body Nationals is already underway. We are looking for your suggestions and tips to improve the event for our 4th anniversary. As of now we are working once again with Island Dragway and we already have lots of notes and suggestions to improve for ’08. Please check out the East Coast Nats forum on the NJFBOA club site to see and contribute to the planning of the 4th Annual East Coast F-Body Nationals. http://www.njfboa.org/forums//forumdisplay.php?f=32

Looking forward, we have our September Monthly Meet all set. We will be headed back to one of the NJFBOA’s favorite haunts in South Jersey for September, the Texas Roadhouse in Millville. The meet will kick off around 11:30am and run until whenever the bench racing and good times run out for the day. Check out the details in the NJFBOA Events Forum, http://www.njfboa.org/forums//showthread.php?t=28474

As you visit the NJFBOA forums you will also notice that we did some rearranging. The idea to change the format was driven by the concept that we are largely based as a social club. The importance of the get togethers, especially the charity car shows and official club meets, is a large part of what drives our club and our membership. By bringing the Events forums to the top of the page we hope to make it easier for everyone to keep up to date on all the goings on in and around New Jersey.

Over the course of the coming weeks and months we are planning many more changes to the forums. Updates to the wording and layout of the forum rules, possibly the addition of a few new forums to the mix, and adding informational pages about past events and how-to articles will all appear on the forums.

Along with all the changes to the forum layout we are also working on some new opportunities for the club through aftermarket support. Working together with existing as well as potential sponsors we are trying to develop a support network to provide all of the available information and parts for any restoration or upgrade project you may have. We fully expect to have many announcements related to this out before the holidays.

We would like to close this newsletter by thanking everyone for their continued support. On August 10th the NJFBOA turned 3 years old. We have gone through many changes since the club started. We hope you will all continue to support the NJFBOA and participate in the club for many years to come. Thank you all.
